Sul Ross State split Saturday's season-opening doubleheader with University of Dallas. The Lobos dropped an 8-5 decision in game one before pounding out 12 hits in a 16-0 shutout victory in the second contest. HPU lost twce to D-II Hawaii Pacific.
Sean McSheffery, a former coach in the San Diego Padres organization who has also served as an assistant baseball coach for the Warriors for the past two seasons, will enter his first season as the head baseball coach for the Hendrix Warriors.
University of Dallas announced the hire of Erik Grafton as the Crusader's head coach. Grafton will be the 20th head coach for the program. Grafton arrives after spending the previous six seasons as the assistant coach for the Texas-Tyler Patriots.
