For the third time in school history, Beloit will be playing in the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Buccaneers earned that distinction after a marathon of games on the second and final day of the 2023 MWC Tournament.
Beloit head coach Dave DeGeorge recorded his 500th win as the Buccaneers split a doubleheader at Illinois College Saturday. Beloit dropped the opener 3-2 in 10 innings before taking the second game 9-5 for the milestone.
UW-La Crosse swept a tripleheader from Finlandia after weather postponed three games of a four game set to Monday. The Eagles won 4-2, 18-0 and 6-3. Grinnell was swept by Beloit but set a program strikeout record with 18.
Beloit's Matt O'Leary was an unanimous choice for the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. The second baseman boasting the third-highest RBI rate per game in Division III, and his eighth homer broke a program record that had stood for 15 years.
Beloit added to their program record for consecutive wins with a game one win over Ripon. Their streak ended at 10 in the nightcap as Ripon scored the final five runs to upset the Bucs 10-9.
The Thomas Terriers walked off with a sweep over Maine-Presque Isle at home while Beloit took two of their own over St. Norbert to move to 6-0. The Buccaneers have scored 9 or 19 runs in five of their six wins.
Call this the "W" regional. Wartburg, Washington U, and Webster are the odds on favorites to take the Central crown. Last year it was another W that advanced out of the Central Regional, Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Once again the number one team in the Midwest Regional is from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-La Crosse will look to defend its title and go back to the World Series with an opening round matchup against the Midwest Conference tournament champions Beloit.

Nick Weisheipl has been hired as Cabrini's first baseball head it was announced by college officials. The first baseball season, the College's 17th intercollegiate sport, will begin in spring 2017.
De Pere, WI -- The Beloit College Baseball team came up with a big inning late in the game and earned a 7-4 win in the nightcap at St. Norbert College on Sunday afternoon, giving Head Coach Dave DeGeorge his 300th career victory. St. Norbert won the opener 10-5.
