Moravian opened its 2013 season with a 9-3 victory over Rutgers-Camden at the Ty Cobb Classic hosted by Hampden-Sydney. Sophomore third baseman Ryan Luke led the way after going 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs, two runs scored, a triple and a double.
Zach Bynum went two for three to lead Transylvania to a 5-1 win over North Park to open their season in a game played at Birmingham Southern. In the evening Transylvania made it two wins with a 16-0 seven-inning win behind the shutout pitching of Shelby Dixon and Matt Birkenhauer. Dixon went four innings and allowed just one hit, with two strikeouts and five walks. Birkenhauer pitched three shutout innings, permitting no hits and facing the minimum nine batters.
Gwynedd-Mercy took two games from Farmingdale State with a 15-0 shutout in game one and a 12-11 squeaker in the nightap.
Trailing 9-4 with two innings left, Bates scored one in the eighth and nine in the ninth to claim a 14-9 win over Oglethorpe. Ryan Sonberg, Mekae Hyde and Griff Tewksbury had three hits apiece to lead the Bobcats’ 17-hit attack. Sonberg scored twice and drove in four runs in the game. Hyde was 3-for-5 including a triple.

Senior pitcher Stephen Bonser pitched a complete-game two-hitter and junior outfielder Kyle Billig drove in the game-winning run as Washington (Mo.) earned a 3-2 win in 10 innings over No. 10-ranked Webster. The Bears dropped their second game of the day, falling 10-1 against Rhodes.
Scott Weinschenk and Ryan Ullmann combined to pitch nine shutout innings on the mound in leading No 16 Concordia (Texas) to a 4-0 victory over Louisiana College in the rubber match of a three-game series at Tornado Field.
SUNY Old Westbury opened the 2013 campaign and came away with a 16-3 setback to open a three-game weekend series with the Frostburg State Bobcats. Due to the threat of bad weather, the single nine-inning game was played today.
Mary Hardin-Baylor took game one behind Chance Ryan's solid pitching performance, but a second game comeback fell short as the Cru split a doubleheader with Texas-Tyler in Belton. UMHB won 3-2 in game one before falling 5-4 in game two.
