FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Marian Director of Athletics Jason Bartelt has announced the promotion of Jordan Baitinger as the Sabres' new head baseball coach.

"I am honored to have Jordan Baitinger as the next head coach of our baseball program," Bartelt said. "He had an extremely successful playing career under the great late Gordie Gillespie. His leadership is infectious and look forward to him continuing to build a championship caliber baseball program."

Baitinger becomes just the fourth head coach since the program's inception in 1988 to lead the Blue and White. Baitinger has been on staff for the past four seasons, primarily tutoring the Sabres' pitching corps.

"I would like to thank Jason Bartelt and the athletic department for the opportunity to lead the baseball program," Baitinger said. "I am excited to aid in the personal and athletic development of our student-athletes, instilling strong values that lead to athletic and professional success."

As a player at Ripon, he capped off his senior season by being named First Team All-Midwest Conference North Division Pitcher of the Year. Jordan was also named ABCA & Rawlings First Team All-Region. He made history by becoming only the second pitcher ever to throw a no-hitter in the NCAA Division III tournament, doing so in the first round against St. Olaf (Minn.).

Jordan finished his senior year with a 7-1 record, leading the team in wins, ERA (1.84), innings pitched (68.1) and strikeouts (44). Baitinger completed his career with a 15-2 overall record, 88 strikeouts and a 1.81 ERA.

Bartelt, who has led the baseball program for the past 15 seasons, and served as Director of Athletics the past two years in a dual capacity, will assume the full-time athletic director role.

"The entire university is grateful to Jason for his leadership of the Marian University baseball program," Marian President Andrew Manion said. "Now we need for him to concentrate all of his time and energy on leadership of Marian University Athletics, which is growing and is a key strategic part of our future. I am very excited about this opportunity for Jason and look forward to working with him as we take the athletics program to the next level."
