Briand named Anna Maria head coach

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College Athletic Department has named Dan Briand the Head Baseball Coach as announced by Athletic Director, Serge DeBari on Monday morning. Briand joins the Anna Maria community with over 10 years of baseball coaching experience. He currently serves as the assistant coach for the American Legion Baseball, Northbridge Post 343 team. He has been with Post 343 since 2006. He replaces Nick Marsh who was 16-59 in two years for the AMCATS.

He most recently spent two seasons as the assistant baseball coach at Fitchburg State University. Briand served as the interim head baseball coach at Roger Williams University in 2015 following a season as the assistant coach in 2014. He was the assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator for Becker College baseball for two seasons while also working in their admissions department from 2006-2009. Briand also served as the head baseball coach for the Worcester Area All-Star GSBA Fall-Showcase League for three years.

"Briand has a great deal of experience and knowledge to bring to the Anna Maria baseball program. He is a hardworking coach and I look forward to working with him in developing and growing the Anna Maria College baseball team," said DeBari.

Briand attended Becker College in Worcester, Mass. where he received his B.S. degree in Criminal Justice in 2009. He was a member of the Becker College Baseball team from 2005-2009 and served as captain for two seasons. He was a 2009 Conference Player of the Year Nominee, a 2009 First-Team All-Conference Selection and a 2009 All-Tournament Team Selection.

Briand is a resident of Whitinsiville, Mass.
