Wesley erased an eight run first-inning deficit to the tune of 30 unanswered runs in a 30-9 rout of the Pine Manor Gators on Monday. All nine Wesley starters drove in a run, reached base and scored in the victory. Wesley batted around in the first, fourth and sixth innings. Jordan Marucci and William Foster each recorded four hits. Foster registered five RBIs and had two doubles while Marucci scored five times and drove in three runs. Jason Boc plated four runs and scored four times with three hits. John Joines, William Musser and Alexander Weber tallied a pair of hits respectively. Musser came around to score five times while Weber added three runs scored and three RBIs. Ray'shon Baine drew a pair of bases-loaded walks in the sixth inning to notch two RBIs. Brock Wingate recorded two runs in the win. Darin Matthews picked up his first win of the season in relief of Dominick Williams. Matthews scattered six walks and five hits while striking out two and allowing an unearned run in the seventh inning.
Greensboro swept the Owls of Maine Presque Isle in a non-conference doubleheader, scoring 37 runs on the day. The Pride took the opening game by a 21-3 score before taking the nightcap 16-5. Greensboro pounded out 21 hits in the victory as Hewett went four-for-four at the plate while Scotty McGuire had three hits in three trips to the plate. Tim Osborne finished with two hits in the contest after pinch-hitting for Blake Carroll late in the game. Greensboro finished the game with 14 hits while the Owls only recorded three hits. Lincoln Hewett, Chance Bryant, Blake Bond, and Jacob Rodriguez each had two hits in the victory while Peters went three-for-four at the plate.
After Sunday afternoon's tough loss to No. 7 Concordia-Chicago on Sunday, the TCNJ baseball team responded with a resounding 15-4 victory over No. 12 Southern Maine at Chain of Lakes Park in the RussMatt Invitational. The Lions scored runs in seven of their nine at-bats. The Lions had 13 hits, drew eight walks and four hit batsmen.
New York University rebounded from a loss in dominating fashion, defeating the Illinois Tech 16-0 in Florida. NYU got a strong pitching performance from Sal Cammisuli (pictured) and had four players collect two hits as it rolled past the Scarlet Hawks to bounce back from a 5-4 loss to SUNY New Paltz. Jordan Scrimpsher struck out 10 over eight innings and also knocked in two runs at the plate while leading Elmhurst to a 5-2 road win over MacMurray. Scrimpsher finished with two hits and two runs driven in at the plate. From the mound, Scrimpsher limited MacMurray to just five hits and two unearned runs over eight innings of work. He walked four while striking out 10. Kevin Johlie pitched a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout to earn his first save of the season.
Senior Eric Jaun and junior Sean Harrington drove in five runs apiece as Babson pounded out 18 hits and took advantage of a school-record 18 walks on the way to defeating Edgewood, 23-7, in non-conference action at the Lee County Player Developmental Complex. Babson, which has won five consecutive games, improves to 6-2 on the year, while Edgewood slips to 1-4 overall. Harrington hit the first grand slam of his career, senior Connor Gill went 4-for-6 with a double and four RBI, and classmate Nicholas Browne homered and drove in three runs as part of a two-hit day for the Beavers. First-year Thomas Lapham had three hits and scored four runs, while juniors Jake Oliger and Matthew Valente both contributed two RBI in the rout.
Ripon's earned their first win of the season, defeating Ruters-Camden 3-2 in a 12-inning affair. Ripon finished the game with eight hits, with three coming from Jake Pankratz and two coming off the bat of Nick Taranto. Brody Marks (1-0) earned the win, allowing just one run on three hits in four innings of relief.
The Blue Jays of Westminster (MO) defeated Ramapo in 11 innings, 6-5. Alex Dickneite started on the mound and pitched five innings, giving up two runs on five hits, while Braden Beasley took the win after pitching the final two innings of the game.
Southern Vermont got itself into the win column as the Mountaineers began their spring break trip to Florida with a 19-6 victory over Edgewood at the Lee County Player Development Complex. SVC scored in each of its first six trips to the plate—cracking it wide open with a crooked six-spot in the fifth to go in front 13-2. The Mountaineers racked up 22 hits on the day, including five doubles, while committing just one error in the field.
Sophomore right-hander John Reynolds, Jr. tossed five scoreless innings in his first collegiate start, and junior third baseman Mike Nickles went 3 for 3 with a grand slam and five RBI, as the fifth-ranked Randolph-Macon stopped Stevens 14-1. Senior second baseman Jeff Butler reached base three times, going 2 for 3 with a walk and two runs. He also stole a pair of bases.
