Led by a stellar pitching performance by Max Olmsted, Castleton earned a 7-1 nonconference victory over Capital Wednesday morning at the Chain O' Lakes Stadium. Olmsted, who pitched one shutout inning in relief against the Crusaders last Sunday, went to work as he earned his first start of the season. Olmsted was phenomenal, collecting his first career win while pitching eight strong shutout innings. The junior from East Montpelier, Vt., only surrendered four hits and struck out five batters. His eight innings pitched today was also the longest outing of his career.

Virginia Wesleyan defeated the No. 9 Seagulls of Salisbury, 6-1 in a single midweek home contest on Kenneth Perry Field at TowneBank Park in Virginia Beach, VA. The Marlins were led by Jacob Pilarski with two hits in four at-bats and two RBI's. Dylan Gentry also had a strong game earning two runs in three at-bats on one hit and driving in one RBI. Jay Crusemire (W: 1-0) picked up the win throwing four innings and giving up just one hit and striking out one batter. Adam Brooks came in to pitch two innings and gave up one run on one hit and struck out one batter. Zach Lubick, Andrew Lowe, and Jacob Pilarski all threw one inning each. Lubick and Pilarski each struck out two while Lowe struck out one.

The upset bug also hit No. 3 Birmingham-Spouthern as they visited Huntingdon and fell 10-5 to the Hawks. Huntingdon exploded for seven second-inning runs, all with two outs and never looked back as both teams traded runs in the subsequent innings.

Emory held on to defeat in-state rival Piedmont , 9-8, at Chappell Park, giving the Eagles their fifth win in a row. The loss snaps the Lions' six-game winning streak, dropping them to 6-4 overall. Down two starters in the lineup, Emory's offense did not skip a beat, plating at least seven runs for the fifth straight contest and for the sixth time in 2020. And for the second time in four games, the Eagles saw all nine members of the starting lineup record at least one hit as they pushed across nine runs on 14 hits. Junior Jack Rubenstein had a team-high three hits, going 3-for-4 with one RBI, two runs and a stolen base. Classmates Michael Edelman, Jacob Singer and Jake Kessinger all collected two hits each with Kessinger driving in a game-high two runs.

Pitching was not the headline act at Guilford's McBane Field, as Methodist and the host Quakers combined for 38 runs in a 7-inning (darkness) 25-13 Monarch non-conference victory.Guilford pushed four runs across the plate in its initial at bat, only to have Methodist run 14 batters up to the plate in the top of the second inning, in which it recorded a 10-spot for a lead never relinquished. Methodist's 25 runs ties not-so-recent game-highs: a 25-12 win against Stevenson University on April 25, 2010; and a 25-4 victory at Shenandoah University on March 8, 2009.

William Paterson (2-0) used a four-run sixth inning to earn a 6-4, come-from-behind victory against Drew (2-2) during the Pioneers' home opener. The game was called in the middle of the seventh inning due to darkness. Steve Yelin went 3-for-4 with a double and RBI, while Steven DiGirolamo drove across three Pioneer runs with his double. In all, eight different WP players recorded a hit.

Seniors Jonathan Triesler and Bradford Webb combined to pitch a four-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead Hampden-Sydney to a 3-0 non-conference win past visiting Southern Virginia at Yank Bernier Field at the Ty Cobb Ballpark - Wurdeman Stadium. Triesler earned the mound win with 8.0 shutout innings and nine strikeouts, while team captain Webb gained the save with the final scoreless inning and one strikeout. Seniors Andrew Kasiski and team captain Matt Spagnolo each collected RBIs for the host Tigers (5-3) against the visiting Knights (6-3).

LaGrange made it five wins in a row with a 15-4 victory over Oglethorpe. The top of the order accounted for 12 of the Panther's 15 hits with McKinley Erves getting four safeties. The top four also scored a combined 10 runs with nine RBIs to provide plenty of support for the parade of five pitchers who combined for the mid-week win.
