LaGrange and Centenary add to win totals

Centenary opened its five-game homestand with a 13-6 victory over the Dubuque University Spartans on Thursday evening at Shehee Stadium. Connor Lee improved to 2-1 on the season as he went seven innings and allowed five runs, all earned, on seven hits. He walked one and struck out two.

LaGrange won its fourth straight, downing Covenant 10-5 on Thursday. The Panthers (4-1) hit three home runs in the game and scored in double digits for the third time in the last four games. Jack Layrisson hit his team-leading third home run, while Cael Chatham and E.J. Churchich both hit their second home runs of the season in the game. Trey Pearce had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. LC finished the game with 10 hits. Baley Coleman (2-0) went six innings to get the win; surviving a four-run third inning. He had a career-high 10 strikeouts and did not walk a batter.

Northwestern (Minn.) allowed 25 runs in a doubleheader sweep by Northwestern (Iowa) in a game played in Kansas City, Mo. Northwestern (Iowa) won game one 17-4 and held off an Eagles late rally to take game two 8-7. Andrew Simonson led the Eagles with a 2-for-5 day. He score three times ansd drove in one. He walked three times, swiping three bases.

Eastern Nazarene College suffered a narrow 6-5 setback to Fisher Thursday evening at the New England Baseball Complex. Retsyn Ootton notched two hits, two RBIs, and one run scored. Max Miednik recorded a pair of base hits, stole two bases, and scored twice. Shane McNamara drove in two RBIs to go with one hit and one run scored. Jamie Carey finished with two stolen bases, one base knock, and one run while Mike Griffin added one hit.
