MOLINE, Ill. – Augustana baseball (18-5) took care of Elmhurst (8-13) and Cornell (8-14) in a unique double-header. The Vikings battled the Bluejays in a 20-7 scoring fest in the first game before again invoking the 10-run rule versus Cornell as Josh Wintroub no-hit the Rams.

Elmhurst and Augie began the day's action with a bang. The Bluejays plated five runs in the top of the first frame including a grand slam home run by catcher Jesse James. Augustana responded with six runs of their own. Two of Augustana's runs in the first came on a pair of bases-loaded walks while Griffen Pschigoda doubled two more across.

Elmhurst came back to take the lead with another James single in the third and a wild pitch that allowed Trey Romay to scamper home.

From there, the flood gates opened for Augustana with 14 unanswered runs to close the game. Most of the Vikings' runs between the fourth and fifth innings came home on walks, hit batsmen, or Elmhurst miscues. Augie's bats woke up again in the sixth with four hits including a two-run bomb by Jaden Dellitt.

Viking batters were hit by pitches seven times in Sunday's first game with Alec McGinnis collecting two of those HBPs. Four Augie players recorded multiple hits. McGinnis, Dellitt, and Kyle Campbell all scored a team-high four runs each. Bryce Luckey improved his record to 3-2 on the year with six strikeouts and just one it surrendered in 3.2 innings.

Augustana continued their offensive momentum in the nightcap against a depleted Cornell College club. The Vikings invoked the ten-run mercy rule for the second time in the same day, beating the Rams 10-0.

The Vikings did most of their damage against Cornell in the second and third innings, scoring seven of their 10 runs. Two of those scores were knocked in on a Jacob Barker single while three more came home on a Matt Ozanic double and two others on a Zachary Vrbancic hit.

Augie scored their final two runs on a Kyle Wise walk in the fourth inning and an Alex Simon single in the sixth.

Ozanic's two hits and three RBI led the Vikings in Game 2. McGinnis, Pschigoda, and Chase Maifield each scored twice.

Josh Wintroub started and went the distance without allowing a hit. The Viking senior threw all seven innings and recorded 14 Ks, just two off the school record, with just four walks while improving his individual record to 5-0.

Augustana will return to the diamond on Friday, Apr. 15 for a home double-header versus Millikin.
