CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Wilson College Director of Athletics Tina Hill has announced the promotion of Vaughn Parker as the head coach of the Phoenix baseball team. He becomes the second head coach in program history and takes over the reins after former skipper John Poss accepted a position as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with the University of Maryland.

"We're so delighted to have Coach Parker ready to step up and lead our program in our next chapter of continued excellence. He's poised to build upon a strong foundation that will attract dedicated and talented student-athletes both in the classroom and on the field," said Hill. "His familiarity with our players and the region along with his professional playing experience will serve us well as we enter a new conference with an exciting vision for what lies ahead for Wilson baseball."

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Wilson College baseball program," added Parker. "This is the start of a new era for the team. We're going to play our brand of baseball, use the sport to learn life lessons, and focus on paying it forward."

Parker initially joined the Phoenix coaching staff as an assistant coach in November. This past season the Blue and White went 34-10 setting multiple program records including most wins in a season. Wilson was also the 2022-23 Division III statistical champion for batting average, runs per game, and slugging percentage.

The team's batting average not only led Division III, but was also the best across all of college baseball regardless of division or association.

Prior to coming to Wilson, Parker played for Mount St. Mary's and appeared in 154 games for the Mountaineers. During his time there he was named to the All-Northeast Conference Team. He graduated in May 2019 with a bachelor's degree in business communications.

Following his career at The Mount, Parker played professionally for two years with the Trinidad Triggers and the Monterey Amberjacks. He was also successful in this venture as he was named a Pecos League All-Start.

Parker has also established his own baseball player development company "Make A Play" which is based in Frederick, Maryland.
