Rainey wins 800th as Bulldogs send Scots to defeat

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Adrian College baseball team traveled to The College of Wooster on Sunday for a single non-conference contest. The Bulldogs defeated Wooster, 8-7, which marks the 800th career win for head coach Craig Rainey. Adrian improves to 20-11 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Edward Wagner and an RBI double from AJ Miranda.
Wooster hit a solo home run in the third inning to make it 2-1, Adrian.
In the fourth inning, Adrian scored on a bases loaded walk which was answered in the sixth by Wooster to make it 3-2.
In the eighth inning, Wooster took a 4-3 lead on a two-run homer.
Adrian exploded for five runs in the top of the ninth to reclaim the lead 8-4. Easton Rogers singled to right field to drive in a run before Nic Bruder drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, Miranda smacked a three-run homer.
Wooster battled back in the bottom of the ninth scoring three runs, but Adrian finished the closeout and won 8-7.

TOP DAWGS

Head coach, Craig Rainey, earned his 800th career win as coach of the Bulldogs. Rainey has been the head coach since 1993 and has won at least 20 games in 22 seasons.
Rolando Jimenez, AJ Miranda, and Ryan Davis all finished with multi-hit games for Adrian.
Ambrose Horwath picked up the win in relief while Griffin Firestine earned the save.

The Bulldogs will return home and open its MIAA series with Hope College on Friday, April 26 at Nicolay Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
