Minnesota Morris came away with a win in the first game of its series against the Martin Luther College Knights. With the wind blowing into the plate, this game was lower scoring than last weekend at Chizek Field but the Cougars broke away in the middle innings for a 13-5 win. With this win the Cougars move to 10-12 (5-2 UMAC) heading into the second day of games this weekend. The score was 4-4 heading into the fourth before Gilchrist pitched a 1-2-3 inning with the help of his teammates. This set the Cougars up to take control of the game in the bottom of the fourth. Another three at-bat inning from Martin Luther kept the Cougars at a comfortable distance heading into the bottom of the fifth, where Meuser and McGie both earned their second runs of the day and Straumann picked up another RBI. The Knights scored their last run of the day in the top of the seventh, getting the score up to 10-5 heading into the eighth inning of play. The last three runs came for UMN Morris in the bottom of the eighth from Ashton Pauly, Nelson, and McGie to solidify the Cougar lead.

Cairn University took on Saint Elizabeth University at FDU-Florham on Friday afternoon, holding off the Eagles' comeback to force extra innings and win 7-6 in 10 innings. In the eighth, Saint Elizabeth added two more on two singles as the Highlanders headed to the ninth inning ahead 6-4. The Eagles hit back-to-back doubles to lead off their last turn at bat, driving a two RBI single up the middle to tie the game. Cairn was able to stand the winning run on second base to force extra innings. In the tenth, Sam Spadea led off with a go-ahead solo home run to left field, putting Cairn up 7-6. That would be all the Highlanders would need as sophomore righty Greg Jessup would sit the Eagles down in order to take the 7-6 win for the Highlanders.

In a roller coaster of a game, Piedmont emerged victorious with a walk-off win over Covenant 6-5 in the tenth inning. Braden Simms entered to close out the contest earning the win allowing just one hit to the seven batters he faced. In the ninth, neither team could manage much as Simms worked a 1-2-3 inning while Piedmont stranded one. Simms allowed a single to lead off the 10th inning but stranded the runner at second after a sac bunt, strikeout and ground out to first. The Lions capitalized in the home half after back-to-back hit by pitches to have two aboard with no outs for Mac Barton. Barton reached on an error by the pitcher on an attempted sac bunt that was fielded and skied past first and the Lions secured the victory.

CJ Brown also pinch hit and was hit as well. That brought Ceja to the plate, and he singled through the five-six hole to drive in pinch runner Luke Hanson. Defensive replacement Mason Chetcuti tied the game on a single to shortstop and CJ Brown came around from second as the Stags committed another error. Pinch hitter Patrick Perez was the third hit batter and proceeded De Vries who gave the Bulldogs their first lead, 8-6, on a two-run single. In the ninth Perez came on and got a fly out and strike out, but the Stags did not go away as they had a double into center field before drawing a walk to put the tying runners on base. Perez, though, would get the next CMS batter to ground out as he got his fourth save of the season.

SUNY New Paltz got back on track in Game 2 with hot hitting by Fabian Apicella and using only two pitchers in the 6-2 victory.

Tyler Sugrim — who entered the game in the fourth — put together a gem on the mound in relief, allowing just one hit over the next three frames while a Whitney long ball made it a two-score game at 5-3. Swarthmore finally broke the scoreless drought in the seventh when a fielder's choice scored Matthew Silvestre to make it a one-run game once again, but it was Hopkins stringing together its best inning at the plate to pull away. Matthew Cooper opened the seventh with a rocket to right center to make it 6-4 before Jacob Harris took one off the knee, putting a runner on with one out. The sophomore stole second after Jake Siani went down swinging, with Whitney's second double of the game bringing Harris home. Whitney then switched places with Cyr following the senior's rifle down the right field line to double up the Garnet, with a throwing error on the ensuing at bat bringing Cyr home and putting the Blue Jays up five.
