Perschke steps down at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – Greg Perschke is stepping down as Trine University baseball coach after 23 seasons at the helm of the program.

"Greg has been a steady presence in the Trine University athletic department for more than 20 years," said Athletic Director Matt Land, "I want to thank him for his decades of service and enumerable contributions to this department both as a coach and an administrator. We all wish him the best in his future endeavors." 

Perschke took over coaching duties for the Thunder in 2002, going on to shepherd the program as they made the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division III and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in 2005. He ends his time at the helm as both the longest serving head coach and the winningest, finishing his career with 356.

During his playing days, Perschke was drafted three straight years before signing with the White Sox after being taken in the 24th round out of the University of New Orleans in 1989. He played eight total seasons in the minors, including five seasons at AAA spending time with the Cubs, Dodgers, Indians and White Sox. compiled a 45-35 record overall record with 490 strikeouts and a 3.86 earned run average.

Despite leaving the coaching ranks, Perschke will continue to work at Trine, now serving a roll in the admissions department.
