Sophomore James Torpey recorded his first nine-inning complete game performance as Penn State Abington defeated Penn State Brandywine, 9-2, in a United East Conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Alverthorpe Park. Torpey held Brandywine to just two runs in nine innings of work, while scattering seven hits. He struck out a career-high eight batters. A five-run second inning was all the offense Torpey would need as Abington jumped out front of Brandywine early in the game. Brandywine scored single runs in the third and fourth innings but still fell further behind as Abington added own. Torpey closed out the game with a three-pitch ninth inning retiring all three batters on one pitch.
Kenneth Miller Jr. belted a go-ahead gram slam with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning on Wednesday afternoon, as Mitchell rallied from an eight run deficit to defeat Wesleyan, 12-9, in non-conference action at Alumni Field. The Mariners had already scored four runs off Wesleyan relief pitching when the junior catcher stepped to the plate with two away, the bases full, and his team trailing, 9-8. Miller Jr. then sent his team into a frenzy, sending a pitch by Lucca Frattone sailing over the fence in centerfield. Miller Jr. finished the day 3-5 with four RBI and three runs scored. Sophomores Chase Donahue and Chas Terni Jr. had two hits apiece, while Donahue drove in three runs and Terni Jr. two of his own.
SUNY New Paltz remained undefeated at home after clinching a 7-4 victory over visiting University of Hartford Wednesday. The Hawks' offense came alive early with Anthony Pericolosi leading off the game with a single. An error gifted the hosting Hawks their third run of the game allowing SUNY New Paltz to take a 3-0 lead. The Hawks added thirs and fifth inning runs and needed the extra run, as Hartford made the game interesting with a four-run sixth. The Hawks countered though with a run and created some breathing room, as Pericolosi did enough to score Fabian Apicella from third, who got on with a lead-off walk, after grounding out on a double play. Jason Wall took over on the mound to start the seventh and got to work. He pitched the final three innings and kept the lead without giving up a hit or walk with one strikeout on nine batters faced. SUNY New Paltz added one more run for good measure in the eighth after Ryan Mackle started the frame with a lead-off double. Pericolosi eventually brought him home on a one-out single to aid in the 7-4 final score.
Sophomore Josh Worthington finished a double shy of the cycle and scored four runs, but Colby College erupted for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally past Plymouth State, 11-9, in a non-conference game at Coombs Field on Wednesday evening. Worthington opened the game with a leadoff home run, and PSU plated two runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a 5-4 lead. The Panthers added another run in the sixth, but Colby responded with three in the bottom half to go up 7-6. Junior Brendan Flynn (Arlington, Mass.) roped a two-run double to cap a three-run eighth as PSU reclaimed the lead, 9-7. The Mules answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame, though, then retired the Panthers in order in the ninth to secure the win.

Washington & Jefferson college executed a doubleheader sweep, 4-3 and 13-7, of the visiting Grove City Wolverines in PAC play Wednesday afternoon at Ross Memorial Park. The wins extend the Presidents' winning streak to nine games. W&J remains unbeaten in Presidents' Athletic Conference games, improving to 8-0 in the league. The Presidents move to 16-4 overall in 2025. Grove City fought back in the bottom of the frame in the opener, scoring three runs on three hits and an error before W&J could halt the Wolverine rally, 4-3. Despite the Presidents putting on two runners in the top of the next inning, neither team would find the scoring column in the final two innings as W&J claimed the 4-3 victory in game one of the twin bill. Zac Stern led the Presidents offensively in game one going 2-for-4 at the plate with three stolen bases and two runs. Brendan Cruz and Stern led the offense in game two. Cruz went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Stern was 3-for-5 at the plate and with two runs and three RBIs in game two.

On Wednesday, Spalding baseball hosted Hanover College. Spalding won 15-6, extending their win-streak to eight. Spalding improved to 17-7 on the season, while the Panthers to 8-14. Despite falling behind early, Spalding's offense exploded for 15 runs on 15 hits, capitalizing on Hanover's defensive struggles. The Panthers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after scoring one run in the first inning and three more in the third. However, Spalding responded with a massive five-run rally in the bottom of the third to take control of the game. The Golden Eagles continued their offensive surge in the middle innings, scoring six runs in the fourth and adding three more in the sixth to put the game out of reach. Hanover pushed across single runs in the fourth and eighth innings, but their efforts weren't enough to overcome Spalding's relentless scoring. On the mound, Andrew Harbison earned the win for Spalding, improving his record to 1-0.
Allegheny continued Presidents' Athletic Conference play with a seven inning, 10-0 win at home against Franciscan. The Gators got to work quickly. Tyson Bryant-Dawson led-off the game with a double. Matt Jennings (Birmingham, Mich./Brother Rice) followed up with a single to center, scoring Bryant-Dawson for the game's first run. After a stolen base and a walk to Tommy Landsnes, Jennings stole third and came home on a throwing error, making it 2-0. Liam Irving increased the lead to 3-0 as he singled through the right side of the diamond, scoring Landsnes. Similar to the first, William Wolff doubled to start the inning. Nick Banez would bring him home on a RBI single. A Jennings single and a Landsnes groundout brought runs in as the Gators led 6-0 after two innings. In the fifth, Irving and Alejandro Samayoa hit-back-to back singles. Groundouts by Garrett Lienhard and Wolff drove the pair in as the lead reached 8-0. Irving doubled to start the seventh, his third hit of the game. A Tommaso Floro single with two outs brought Irving in. After another hit by Banez, Bryant-Dawson ended the game with a RBI single to right field driving Floro in for the seven inning win.
The Loras Duhawks have had a flair for the dramatic when playing their crosstown foes as of late, and that trend continued as the Purple and Gold came away with an exciting 2-1 win over the University of Dubuque. It was a pitcher's dual throughout, and sophomore Adam Williamson delivered in every facet for the Duhawks. The Streator, Ill. native made his second start of the season and routinely had the Spartans off-balance, allowing only six hits, and striking out two. In the top of the tenth, Danny Hiemer was given the reigns. Again, the Spartans would load the bases with only one out, but the senior leader would strike out the last two and keep the score 1-1. Finally, in the eleventh inning, Loras would come through. Jake Zeal was hit by the first pitch he saw, and the pair of Cody Sunny and Jacob Willis would beat out bunt singles to load the bases. Polizzi stepped up, and with two strikes, delivered a line-drive single into left, scoring Zeal and winning the game in walk-off fashion.
Geneva got its first Presidents' Athletic Conference win of the season Wednesday afternoon, taking game one over Chatham 10-2 before falling to the Cougars 7-6 in game two. A passing thunderstorm delayed game one for roughly two and a half hours midway through the sixth inning. The rain delay in the sixth inning did not slow down the GTs at all, as they scored three more times in the very next frame. Chatham walked home a runner with the bases loaded and nobody out, and then Babu punched a two-RBI single into right field to make it a seven-run game. Senior Zach Lemansky sent one more run across the plate in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly, and Geneva coasted the rest of the way to a 10-2 game one victory. The Cougars knotted the score at six runs in the top of the sixth in game two. Chatham scored twice more in the top of the ninth inning, and the GTs could not respond in the bottom half of the frame. The Cougars took game two, 7-6.
Coe picked up its second conference doubleheader sweep of season Wednesday afternoon at Simpson, defeating the Storm 4-3 in a pair of A-R-C matchups. Coe rode the backs of Drew Osterman and Xander Cloudy in game one as the duo were dominant, allowing just eight hits and three runs. Osterman got the start and hung tough throughout the game, striking out six hitters while working out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth to keep the Kohawks in front. Cloudy entered in the sixth and finished the game, scattering four hits in four scoreless frames. Jake Brosius, Will Hosch and Ryan Brosius had RBI in the win for the offense while CJ Johnson scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the fourth. Coe's offense, which had 10 hits in game one, followed with 11 hits in game two but 12 runners left on base made things difficult for the offense. Nolan Schroeder pitched five strong innings to start, striking out seven batters while allowing just four hits and two runs as Simpson took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth. The Kohawks responded and tied the game in the seventh with an RBI from Hosch but Simpson regained the lead in the seventh with a two-out double. Coe trailed 4-3 in the top of the ninth and found the heroic moments, getting a leadoff runner on an error before a wild pitch and another error tied it at three. Ryan Thoreson made the Storm pay for the mistakes later in the frame and gave Coe the lead for the first time in the game, driving home Anthony Ranallo on a two-out single. Brady Alexander, who entered the game in the seventh, remained for the final inning and worked a flawless 1, 2, 3 frame to end the game.
No. 12 Penn State Harrisburg used a monster first inning to race out to a sizable lead and defeat United East foe Saint Elizabeth 12-3 in a shortened contest called after five innings due to weather on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions (19-4-1, 4-1 United East) wasted no time creating separation, as 14 men came to the plate to begin the game. Penn State Harrisburg worked two walks, stole five bases and used nine hits to take an early 9-0 lead. In the fifth, Carlos Irizarry put the finishing touches on the scoring with an RBI triple to right center field that saw him come around on an error on the play. Christian Lubic worked his second straight 1-2-3 inning in the bottom half and the game was delayed due to lightning before being ultimately called after the fifth.Brendan Henn, Alexander Ruiz and Lucas Floyd each had multi-hit games and drove in two runs apiece. Demetre Koutras doubled and walked twice, while Blaine Waltimyer scored two runs and swiped three bases. Lubic earned the win after throwing all five innings.
Graduate student Tanner Santos became the program's all-time leader and stolen bases and junior Zander Teator went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and recorded his fourth save of the season to help No. 21 Babson defeat visiting Trinity (Conn.), 6-3, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Govoni Field. Babson, which has won five of its last seven games, improves to 12-5 overall with the win. Trinity has dropped its last three outings to slip to 6-11 overall. First-year Gabe Cushner singled and drove in a pair of runs, senior Walter Sadowsky was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Santos walked twice and swiped the 56th bag of his career for the Beavers. First-year Chase Burrows allowed three runs over 7.0 innings and struck out two while allowing just two base runners over his final five frames to improve to 4-0 this spring with the win.
No. 6 Endicott was victorious over UMass Boston in Wednesday's 2-0 pitching duel. With the game scoreless in the third, the Blue and Green capitalized their second time through the order. Zach Stephenson led things off with a double down the right field line before Danny MacDougall walked to put two runners on with nobody out. The two then successfully pulled off a double-steal, putting themselves on second and third with nobody out in the inning. Joey Frammartino plated Stephenson with a sac fly to left, and then Kyle Grabowski followed up with an RBI single up the middle to drive in MacDougall. That was all Scully and Jenkins needed to bring home the win. The tandem combined to go nine full innings for the Gulls, limiting the Beacons to just two hits (five baserunners) along the way. After Scully delivered five strong in his start, the Beacons picked up their second hit of the game to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning. Scully then turned the ball over to Jenkins, who was able to escape the only real Beacons scoring threat of the day (runner on third with one out) via back-to-back strikeouts of the one and two hitters in the Beacons' order, stranding the runner in scoring position. From there, Jenkins retired nine straight Beacons to close out the win in dominant fashion.
