| John Carroll will return home from Florida in a good mood following a week in the sun with good results. The Blue Streaks concluded the spring break trip to the Sunshine State with a 7-3 win over Keystone. JCU finished with a 4-2 mark at the RussMatt Invitational and sport an 8-2 record. Bethany Lutheran forced the 10-run rule for the second straight game, defeating Carthage 11-1 in eight innings Saturday for its fifth consecutive win (5-1). The Vikings scored three times in the second, starting with a two-run double by Seth Jones. Jayden Knutson then plated Jones with a single. Carthage scored its lone run in the fourth on an RBI single, but that was all it could muster off Vikings starter Adryen Tietz, who went 5.2 innings. He improved to 1-0 with three hits and four strikeouts. Yunior Pena hit home Xander Meissner in the fifth for a 4-1 lead and Vincent Curzie plated three more runs in the seventh. Joshua Miller made it 9-1 in the eighth with a two-run single and then Pena hit a walk-off two-run triple for the run rule. Sean Gamble closed out the final 2.1 innings on the mound for the save. He gave up one hit with two strikeouts. Curzie led at the plate, batting 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI.
Franklin & Marshall (5-2) came away with two non-conference victories against Rutgers-Newark (1-6) at Penn Medicine Park on Saturday. The Diplomats cruised to a 17-2 win in game one, before claiming a 14-4 victory in game two with both games ending in a run-rule. The Diplomats used five runs in the third and nine runs in the fourth to cruise to a run-rule victory over the Scarlet Raiders in game one. Matt Hollender led the Diplomats with three hits. Hollender also recorded a career-high five RBI. As a team, F&M registered seven extra-base hits in the game. The Scarlet Raiders took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but F&M battled back to take an 8-2 lead through four. Despite allowing runs in the fifth and sixth innings, the Diplomats scored six in the final two frames to complete the run-rule victory.
Fitchburg State used a dominant offensive performance to cruise past St. Vincent College by a score of 17-1 this morning in Auburndale, Florida. Fitchburg State and St. Vincent were tied after one and it never got closer. The Falcons quickly regained control in the second. and extended the advantage in the fifth inning with an 11-run inning and a commanding 14-1 lead. Fitchburg State added three more runs in the sixth as Fonck delivered a two-run single and an error allowed another run to score, sealing the 17-1 victory for the Green and Gold.
An 11-run sixth inning propelled Allegheny to a 14-1 home-opening victory over Fredonia State on Saturday at Robert M. Garbark '32 Field. Already up 3-0, the Blue and Gold almost batted around the lineup twice against four different Fredonia (1-3) pitchers. They logged nine hits while three Gators were hit by pitches, two were walked, one reached via an infield error, and one drove in a run with a sac fly. Freshman shortstop Connor Kunkle and sophomore catcher Ty Eberhardt both had two hits in the inning, including a double. The Blue Devil offense nearly responded in the top of the seventh. A single and two walks allowed Fredonia to load the bases, but reliever Michael Alspaugh got out of the jam and preserved the shutout by inducing a hard ground ball to second base. However, Fredonia managed to spoil Allegheny's shutout bid in the ninth with a two-out, RBI hit from Tucker Schwab.
Lebanon Valley closed out its spring break trip by putting on an offensive clinic, recording 21 hits, seven walks, and four stolen bases in a dominant 20-0 victory over Thiel in seven innings at Bob Gladwin Stadium. Spencer Butz was a key contributor to the win for the Flying Dutchmen (3-6), as the center fielder drove in five runs, scored four times, and picked up three base hits. Lucien Burger also had a big day at the plate, tallying four RBIs, two hits, and a run scored. Additionally, Owen Berry went 4-for-4 while knocking in three runs and crossing the plate three times. Lebanon Valley's pitchers were stellar as well, combining for nine strikeouts to shut out Thiel in seven innings. Starting pitcher Landon Sexton struck out a game-high seven batters for LVC.
William Paterson (4-2) split a twin bill with visiting Scranton (5-3), taking the opener by a 9-8 count during the nine-inning opener, and falling 9-7 during the seven-inning night cap. With the game one score knotted, Angel Colon opened the home half of the sixth inning with a hit by pitch and wild pitch. TyKobylakiewicz's single was thrown away, allowing Colon to scamper home, and two batters later Steven Peralta lifted a sac fly to right, making it a 9-7 advantage. The Royals cut it to a one-run margin during the top of the ninth inning with a hit by pitch, groundout and single. Senior Nick Durso entered from the bullpen, and after a stolen base put the tying run in scoring position, he recorded the game's final out with a punchout. The nightcap followed a different script. Scranton pend the scoring and held a close lead until they opened things up with a four-run sixth, creating a 9-4 margin.WP had the tying run aboard with one out in the seventh, but a fielder's choice and groundout ended the rally short.
Marietta traveled down to Mount Berry, GA to play two against the Berry College Vikings to finish off a previous game hosted by Marietta ending with a late 9-7 victory in favor of the Vikings and Berry followed it up by another comeback victory in the 9-inning affair with an 8-6 win. Jackson Halla got the ball for the Vikings, going 3.2 innings on 6 hits. Cam Welsh picked him up, going 4.1 scoreless on just two hits and 1 walk and recorded the win. The Vikings were down 5-0 early but battled back with some big time at bats and strong pitching performances. Brady Greene threw 3.2 scoreless innings, followed by 1 run in 2 innings from Eric Fountain. Cole Porter relieved Fountain, going 2 scoreless and Jon Strydom came in for the 9th to close the door once again.
Catholic started off a weekend series against Coast Guard with a doubleheader at Talbot Field on Saturday afternoon, looking to build off the 5-2 start to the season. The Cardinals collected their first split against the same team of the season in today's doubleheader winning 7-5 and losing 9-7. After the Bears scratched across a run in the top of the first inning to take the lead, the Cardinals responded with a 4-1 lead after the first. The Bears put up three runs over the fifth and sixth inning to pull the deficit back within two when the Cardinals decided to turn things over to Will Hanson out of the bullpen. Coast Guard brought the go-head run to the plate but Hanson settled things down and recorded three outs, including Catholic cutting down a runner trying to break for the plate to hold on to the two-run advantage. Hanson continued to lock things down in relief for the Cardinals. Jack Scholz came in to close out the ninth inning. After a walk and a single put the tying run on base for the Bears, Scholz stayed composed and induced a game-ending 6-4-3 double play to lock down the victory, 7-5, for his fourth save of the season. After falling in the first game, Coast Guard came out hot, scoring two runs in the top of the first off of Catholic's starter Charlie Belli. Each time Catholic countered, Coast Guard would respond. In the top of the eighth, the Bears locked in their victory with two more runs off a double down the right field line. Catholic fell to Coast Guard 9-7, going 1-1 on the day.
Senior center fielder and team captain Greer Farr had three hits and two RBIs in the first game, and sophomore designated hitter Connor Powell added his first collegiate home run, while Powell had two hits and two RBIs and freshman shortstop Mason Lester had two hits and an RBI in the second game, to lead Hampden-Sydney to an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep, 4-3 and 4-3, on the road at Averett on Saturday in Danville. Sophomore left-hander Noah Lewis gained the pitching win in relief in the 4-3 opener, while sophomore right-hander Brady Wilson took the mound win in the 4-3 nightcap with senior right-hander Jacob Williams earning a save. The visiting Tigers improved to 8-4 overall, including 2-0 in the ODAC, while the host Cougars dropped to 5-9 overall, 0-2 in the ODAC.
Susquehanna notched two wins against Heidelberg and Northwestern (Minn.) ahead of final day in Florida. The River Hawks won a back-and-forth showdown with Heidelberg by an 8-5 score, before shutting out the Eagles in the afternoon, 4-0, marking their second shutout this trip after beating Misericordia 7-0 on Wednesday. The opening game saw many lead changes until the ninth inning. Heading into the ninth inning, the River Hawks pulled away form Heidelberg, scoring three runs. CJ Orrego continued to dazzle with a single to right field, bringing in Lucas Zachesky. Girardi singled to right field to pull in the final two runs of the contest in the likes of Austin Wenger and Jaden Buechler. Susquehanna held any attempt at a comeback at bay, winning the game 8-5. The River Hawks offense found a spark in the third inning, scoring their first two runs of the game. But it was the defense was the showcase against the Eagles, with Ben Gearhart earning the start for the River Hawks. Gearhart finished the day pitching seven full innings, picking off two batters from first base.
Rochester rallied twice on Saturday, defeating SUNY Maritime 8-7 and 5-1 to post a doubleheader sweep at the RussMatt Invitational at the Lake Myrtle Complex. URochester's two victories move the Yellowjackets to 3-0 on the young season, while the Privateers remain winless, dropping to 0-5 overall. The Yellowjackets spotted the Privateers a five-run lead after one inning, but continually chipped away over the next four frames eventually taking an 8-5 lead in the middle of the fifth. Maritime cut the lead to two in the bottom of the fifth and threatened in the last inning, scoring once, but stranded the bases loaded. In the second game, Maritime's leadoff hitter, Dylan Payano, reached on a triple and later scored on an RBI groundout, putting the Privateers up on the scoreboard after just two batters. That was it though for SUNY Maritime, as junior starter Zach Herzog was terrific throughout the rest of his outing, which lasted six innings. Herzog earned the win, allowing just the one run and five hits, while striking out five and issuing two walks. Sophomore Jake Del Vecchio pitched a scoreless last inning, sealing the win.
Tufts swept a closely contested doubleheader with Hobart in cloudy conditions at Sol Gittleman Park as the Jumbos opened their season with two victories in non-conference play against the Statesmen on Saturday afternoon. The Jumbos rallied for a 2-1 win in extra innings in game one and secured a 5-1 victory in game two. The Jumbos (2-0, 0-0 NESCAC) started game one with Paul McCarthy on the bump, who started off slinging by not allowing a hit through 5.1 innings of play. The Statesmen scored an unearned run in the top of the sixth inning to give them a 1-0 lead. Jesse McCullough knotted the game at one in the bottom of the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly ball to right field. Tim McGrath tagged up from third base and crossed home, giving the Jumbos their first run of the season. With the game going into extras, Mitchel Hwang delivered 2.1 scoreless innings to give the Jumbos an opportunity to capture a victory in their first game of the season. James Henshon opened the bottom of the eighth with a triple to deep right field. AJ Lysko followed with a walk and then stole second. Tate Bannish walked it off for Tufts with a sacrifice fly to left field, while Henshon scored on the tag from third. In game two, Cole Donato got the nod to be the starting arm for the Jumbos and conceded just one earned run through 4.2 innings of action, while allowing 4 hits and capturing the win. Bannish continued his electric opening day with his first collegiate-career home run to give the Jumbos a 4-1 advantage in the bottom of the fifth. Bannish finished the day 2-7 with three RBIs. McKiernan stretched the Jumbo lead to 5-1 with RBI triple to left field the sent Henshon home from first base. Derek Desmarais finished off game two for Tufts with 2.0 innings pitched, two strikeouts, and the save.

Oneonta swept the three-game series against Plymouth State, with two wins on Saturday. The Red Dragons took the first game 4-1 and then won the second game 8-6. Oneonta moves to 5-3 overall, while Plymouth State falls to 0-3. In the opener, The Red Dragons brought in two runs in the bottom of the third and fifth to take a 4-0 lead. The Panthers got on the board in the sixth inning when Brayden Michaelson doubled down the left field line to bring Sam Salvi home. Oneonta closed out the game in the seventh with Connor Dobson grounding into a double play. In the nightcap, Oneonta scored four in the first and by marching the Panther offense, made the lead hold for the sweep of the day's games.
Ithaca swept the doubleheader on the road against Arcadia, 9-6 and 16-7, on Saturday improving their record to 3-2 on the season. In the first game of the day, the Bombers immediately got off to a strong start with a 3-0 lead. Arcadia took the lead with a pair in the sixth but three innings with two runs scored was enough for Ithaca to exit with the win. Ithaca and Arcadia traded runs early on but like the previous game, late runs provided the winning margin. In the eighth inning the Bombers got consecutive singles from Ben Raspanti and Isaiah Smith putting two runners on base for Lucas Orlovitz who went deep with a three-run shot for his second homer of the game, and third of the day, making it 16-5. From there Ithaca cruised to victory.
Edgewood continued action down south Saturday. They took on the Millsaps Majors and the Huntingdon Hawks. The Eagles (3-3) got the better of the Majors (6-7) in a 13-6 affair, but fell to the Hawks (10-4) 14-4 in seven innings. The Majors got the jump on the Eagles, an error in the first inning and a double steal in the third putting them ahead 2-0 after three. Edgewood tied the game 2-2 after four with both squads matching blow for blow in the next three innings. Edgewood broke the game wide open in the eighth and ninth with seven total runs. The Hawks got the jump on the Eagles with 11 runs in the first three innings, including a pair of three-run homers. Mirocha got Edgewood University on the board with an RBI double in the top of the fourth. Hellenbrand added an RBI triple to left center in the fifth. Huntingdon pushed the lead to 14-3 after a two-run sixth to put the Eagles in a do-or-die seventh inning. While Kelley singled in a run to left field after a Ryan Harris triple, Edgewood University would fall in seven innings. Brodie Holcomb and Sam Kelley recorded a home run and five RBIs apiece. MD Johnson held the Eagles in check. He tossed 6.1 innings in the start with eight strikeouts to claim the victory.
Mount Union kicked off its Florida road trip with a 7-0 shutout victory against Anderson. Junior right-handed pitcher Ty Dennison (Hudson, OH/Hudson) delivered a dominant performance, throwing 7.0 shutout innings while allowing just three hits and one walk. He also tallied an impressive 10 strikeouts. Freshman catcher Jake Jung ignited the scoring for the Purple Raiders with an RBI double to deep left center field. This opportunity was created by a single and a stolen base from junior Trevor Szekely, who put himself in scoring position. Mount Union continued to dominate in the third inning, scoring three runs. Junior third baseman Drew Denham contributed with a two-RBI double to left-center field. Szekely added the third run of the inning with a sacrifice fly, giving the Purple Raiders a 4-0 lead. In the sixth inning, Szekely led off with a double and later scored on an error, contributing to a strong performance where he went 2-for-3 with an RBI. In the eighth inning, Mount Union added two more insurance runs. Junior outfielder Brycen Fox hit a sacrifice fly to center field, finishing the game with an impressive 3-for-4 performance and an RBI. Junior outfielder Luke Ickes then capped off the inning with an RBI single up the middle. Junior right-handed pitcher Drew Gernert concluded the game for the Purple Raiders, tossing the final 2.0 innings, allowing no runs and recording three strikeouts.
Sophomore second baseman Luke Rizzo continued his recent tear with three home runs, and Wooster nearly turned a game-ending triple play in Saturday's neutral site sweep in Indiana. Wooster hung a seven-spot on Illinois Institute of Technology in the fourth inning of its 13-3 win before shelling Elmhurst University 11-3 in the nightcap. Eleven of Wooster's (7-2) 17 base knocks went for extra bases against Illinois Tech (2-3). Rizzo accounted for three of them with mammoth solo homers in the third and sixth innings. Power blasts came off the bats of first-year left fielder Matt Herlick and junior designated hitter Koa Siu, who teed off on Illinois Tech's pitchers for a pair of two-run homers in the fourth inning. Ten of Wooster's 13 runs scored on hits that went for extra bases. Sophomore center fielder Aidan Krantz tied Saturday's opener at one with a second-inning triple up the alley in right. He scored when junior first baseman Zack Barienbrock smoked a double down the right field line.
Manhattanville traveled south to partake in The Ripken Experience over spring break, opening the week by taking both games of the doubleheader, 14-1 and 7-3, in first-time matchup against Cairn on Saturday morning. Manhattanville's eight-run fifth inning secured the first win of the day over the Highlanders. Ryan McCann went a full seven innings on the mound, allowing no free bases, sending six down while giving up five hits and one earned run. Logan Alberto led his team with four RBIs, going 2-for-4 from the plate and scoring one. Four runs in the seventh inning gave the Valiants the advantage in an even set game two against the Highlanders. Griffin White led his squad to the second win of the day, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and scoring two runs. One of his two hits came a lead-sealing three-run home run in the seventh, putting the Vals up 7-3 and three outs away. Billy Anema earned the win on the pitch, going five innings with five strikeouts, no walks, and giving up one run. Aidan Tumbleson wrapped it up for the Valiants, finishing out two innings, giving up three hits and two earned runs.
Senior designated hitter Collin Reilly hit a pair of three-run home runs and knocked in a career-high six runs to lead the Wheaton (Mass) over Wesleyan University, 10-3, this afternoon at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla. as part of the RussMatt Central Baseball Invitational. Wheaton rapped out 15 hits in the game, while Wesleyan collected 10 hits, but left nine runners on base. Reilly clouted the first two long balls of his career and scored a pair of runs, while sophomore right fielder Declan Lush registered the first three-hit effort of his career, going 3-5 with a two-run homer, a run scored and a stolen base for the Lyons. First year Brayden Lewis collected the first two hits of his collegiate tenure, finishing the day going 2-2 with a run batted in, while junior center fielder Robbie Lamond contributed with a double and single in four at-bats and a pair of runs scored to go with a stolen base. Junior right-handed reliever Braden Young tossed three innings of relief and faced just two batters over the minimum, hitting a pair of batters, but did not allow a hit or a walk to earn his first collegiate victory and improve to 1-0 on the season.
