Upsets the rule in Top25 on Tuesday

Wheaton (Ill.) used quality pitching and timely defense to earn a 1-0 victory against Hamline on the third day of its spring break trip. Freshman Jamin Van Grouw (1-0) was outstanding today as he earned his first collegiate win in seven innings of work.  Van Grouw allowed zero runs, scattering three hits, with just one walk and four strikeouts.

Facing their third nationally ranked conference opponent in a row, Washington and Lee got out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth inning to defeat 11th-ranked Shenandoah University, 4-2, on Tuesday evening at Cap'n Dick Smith Field. The Generals moved to 6-5-1 on the season with a 2-2-1 mark in conference play. The win also marked the second consecutive victory over the Hornets. Alex Caywood (2-for-3) and Jackson Rogish (2-for-4) led the Generals' offense with two hits apiece, while Caywood drove in a team-high two runs. Nathan DeWitte, Andrew Thornton, Camdyn Teague, and Jonathan French each had one hit for the Blue and White this evening as well. Nathan DeWitte (1-1) earned his first win of the season as he allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work. Eric Jacobsen picked up the first save of his career as he pitched the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts.

On Tuesday afternoon, Messiah held off a late comeback from the second-ranked Sea Gulls of Salisbury to earn an 8-7 win. The Sea Gulls got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first. The Falcons tied the game in the top of the third with an RBI single. The Falcons took their first lead of the game on a three-run home run from Matt Luchovick in the top of the fourth. The Falcons added two more runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-1 lead. The Sea Gulls responded with a run in the bottom of the seventh to cut the Falcons lead to 6-2. The Falcons extended their lead to six with two runs in the top of the eighth. The Sea Gulls then scored the next five runs before the Falcons got out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth to earn the 8-7 win. Matt Luchovick led the Falcons with two hits, including a three-run home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Isaiah Parido added two hits, including a solo home run. Zachary Harris earned the win on the mound for the Falcons, pitching 6.1innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.

Washington St. Louis' perfect season has come to an end as Rose-Hulman has taken down the #6 Bears in a triumphant 9-8 victory. Rose-Hulman took an early 4-0 lead and added on to lead 9-0 after four innings. The Bears would chip away and draw closer with a six run sixth inning. At the top of the eighth inning, freshman Jack Reeves forced a groundout, and he followed that up by striking out consecutive batters to wrap up the inning. He added another strikeout to begin the ninth, before forcing a pop-up to second base. With Rose-Hulman one out away from securing the upset, Will Taigen hit a line drive to deep right field. Pipkins would chase down the hit, and he made a sensational diving catch as Rose-Hulman achieved the thrilling 9-8 victory.

Marywood delivered No. 25 Gettysburg College its first baseball loss of the season on Tuesday. The Pacers outlasted the nationally ranked Bullets with a 3-2 victory. Marywood earns a win over a nationally ranked team for the second straight season. The Pacers gave the Bullets their first loss in 10 games this season. Playing for the sixth time in eight seasons in Fort Pierce, Florida, the Pacers earned their first win over Gettysburg. Austin Bausman prevailed in a pitcher's duel for his second win in as many starts. Bausman allowed just an earned run in five innings of work. He struck out six batters and yielded just four hits. Noah Trager did not allow a hit in three innings. Isaac Galarza picked up his first save, allowing an earned run in the ninth. It is Marywood's first win over a nationally ranked opponent since besting No. 23 Keystone College in March 2025.

Rochester topped Wesleyan University 8-5 on Tuesday afternoon at the RussMatt Invitational, keeping its strong start to the 2026 season going. The Yellowjackets pounded out 14 hits, with the top third of the lineup each getting two knocks. Carlos Barajas went 3-for-4, George Farley IV was 2-for-4 and Sammy Besztery also ended 2-for-4. Barajas and Farley IV had doubles, while Besztery reached four times, adding two walks while also scoring two runs. Randy Davis chipped in two hits and two runs scored, while Tristan Datta drove in two runs on a base hit and bases loaded walk. On the mound, James Nelson was terrific for the second straight outing in Florida, going five innings while giving up just four hits. He allowed two runs, but only one was earned. He walked one while fanning four batters. Five Yellowjacket relievers finished off the game, including Christopher Trucano, Ryan Balent, Ryan Arora, Theo Beckley and Jake Del Vecchio. Balent, Beckley and Del Vecchio each tossed an inning, with Arora getting credit for the win, striking out two in his outing. Del Vecchio pitched around a hit and error in the ninth to earn his second career save.

Keystone split a doubleheader with Calvin on Tuesday, rolling to a decisive win in the opener before falling in a late-inning rally in the second game. Keystone erupted for five runs in the first inning and never looked back in a 14-4 victory, but in their second match-up, Calvin scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 4-3 win. Keystone broke the opening game open immediately with a five-run first inning after Calvin scored an unearned run in the top half. Calvin trimmed the deficit to 7-4 in the sixth on Sam Hungerford's two-run homer and an RBI single from Luke Gallagher, but Keystone answered with a decisive seven-run bottom half. The second game was a tightly played pitcher's duel before Calvin rallied late. Calvin answered in the bottom of the seventh. After a walk and two wild pitches moved the tying run to third, Scholma brought him home with a fielder's choice. With the bases loaded later in the inning, Josh Winkle lined a single up the middle to score the winning run.

UW-Eau Claire (4-2) secured a decisive 5-0 victory followed by a commanding 10-3 win over Carleton (0-4) on Tuesday at U.S. Bank Stadium. In the first game, UW-Eau Claire's pitching staff allowed only one hit while striking out eight batters across seven innings, while the second game showcased their offensive firepower with 10 hits and five stolen bases. Nicholas Meuser delivered an impressive performance for UWEC in game one, pitching 6 innings without allowing an earned run and conceding only one hit. He struck out seven batters and walked just one, achieving a WHIP of 0.33. Tyler Webb contributed with a flawless inning of relief, striking out one and not allowing any hits or walks. The combined efforts of Meuser and Webb kept Carleton scoreless throughout the game. for the fireworks in game two, Austin Buck recorded three RBIs and two hits, contributing to his team's scoring efforts. Logan Scuglik tallied two runs, three hits, and two RBIs, including a triple, demonstrating his effectiveness at the plate. Kellen Smith scored two runs and contributed with a double and an RBI, adding to the team's offensive performance.

With two on and one away in the bottom of the ninth, Tim Haftl ripped the first offering he saw to the fence in left center field, driving in James Quici to complete the late-game comeback and give Penn State Harrisburg an 8-7, come-from-behind victory over York (Pa.) on Tuesday afternoon. Traeton Sauder retired the Spartans (3-6) in order in the top of the ninth to give his offense a chance and the bats came through. With one away, Alexander Ruiz reached base thanks to an error before Zach Neeld entered to pinch run. Quici singled down the first base line to move Neeld to third and the second error of the inning ensued, allowing Neeld to score the tying run and Quici to advance to third before Haftl smacked the first he saw to left center, setting off a celebratory frenzy at second base.

Merchant Marine earned its second straight victory with a 13-3 win over Penn State Behrend on Tuesday afternoon at Lawnwood Sports Complex. The Blue and Gray exploded out of the gate in the first inning, plating six runs to take early control of the contest and a 6-0 lead. KP added four more runs to extend the lead in the bottom of the fourth and continued to add insurance runs throughout the middle innings. Penn State Behrend added a run on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, but KP's early offensive outburst was more than enough as they secured the 13-3 victory.

No. 23 Roanoke put together a 10 run first inning to power themselves past SUNY Cobleskill 17-6 on Tuesday.  The Maroons jumped on SUNY Cobleskill early, scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the first. RC kept rolling from there and every time the Tigers would add a runs, Roanoke would match them with runs in the bottom of the inning. The Maroons had nine extra base hits on the afternoon. Will Emerson picks up his second win of the year after allowing just one hit in his 1.1 innings of work. 

WPI rallied from a 5-3 deficit to defeat Manhattanville, 9-6, on Tuesday morning at Ebbets Field as part of the Myrtle Beach Spring Break Tournament. The Engineers improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Valiants fall to 4-2. James DiGiovanni drove in three runs on two hits to lead the WPI offense. Chuck Cappello added two hits, scored three times and drove in a pair, while Camden Willems recorded two hits and two RBI. Jonathan Lattimer and Zachary Roethlein each drove in a run, while Matt Shea and Jack Zawacki contributed a hit and a run scored. Andrew Burke started for the Engineers and allowed four runs over the first two-plus innings. Joseph Conti earned the win in relief, tossing five innings while allowing two runs on five hits. Kaiden Williams worked a scoreless eighth, and Mason Walls  struck out two in the ninth to earn his second save of the season.

Catholic started off its week with the first of two games against Rhode Island College on the docket, looking to pick up their eighth win on the season thus far. The bats were hot early and often for the Cardinals, putting up 15 runs, including four long balls, to coast to a 15-6 victory over the Anchormen. Catholic used several pitchers to get through the latter half of the ballgame, using eight different pitchers in total to keep Rhode Island College at bay. Throughout the final seven innings of the contest, the Cardinals bullpen held the Anchormen to just two runs with a couple pitchers making debuts with the Cardinals including James Vlastaris, Liam Cardman, Andrew Spence and Ryan Kearney. Michael Napolitano secured his first career multi-home run performance in the win and now has a new career-high for home runs in a season. The senior catcher is currently hitting .368 on the season with three extra-base hits and three RBIs.

Brandeis used a pair of big innings, highlighted by a grand slam from sophomore Bobby Quill as the Judges defeated host Mass. Maritime, 14-3, today. The game was played with fog across the field and was called in the top of the ninth due to a combination of fog and darkness. Brandeis broke things open in the fifth, scoring six runs on four hits and three walks. Sophomore catcher Keith Lee had a two-run single to give Brandeis a 3-0 lead. After an out, a single and a walk, Quill delivered his big blow, a grand slam to right-center field. Brandeis finished of the game when they erupted for seven runs on four hits and four walks plus an MMA error before the game was called due to darkness and fog. The biggest blow of the inning was a pinch two-run triple by sophomore Colby Harrington that provided the final 14-3 margin.

Rivier defeated non-conference opponent Delaware Valley, 10-6, on Tuesday afternoon at Crosley Field to secure its first victory of the 2026 season. Delaware Valley opened the game with a five run lead after three innings but Rivier chipped away. Rivier cut the deficit to two in the fifth and took the lead with a four run sixth. The Raiders added insurance in the seventh but did not need it as Rivier held on for the 10–6 victory. 

The Loras Duhawks plated six runs in the second inning on their way to a dismantling of the Polar Bears, 15-6. Loras (6-4) was out for blood in the second, and they gave the Polar Bears all they could handle. The decisive second inning began with a double by Vince Polizzi, which was followed by a single from Ryan Quinlan and culminating in a Jackson Cullen line-drive long ball to left. Up 6-0, It was the perfect storm for Loras and thankfully Vincent Costantino was throwing a gem on the other side of the ball to keep the Purple and Gold squarely out in front. Ohio Northern had little response, and after Loras nearly run-ruled their foes, the Duhawks managed a fantastic get-back win in nine innings.

Baldwin Wallace defeated DeSales by a score of 14-4 at Centennial Park to win their fifth consecutive game and conclude their spring break trip in Florida. For the fourth consecutive game, the offense was the story for the Yellow Jackets, with 16 hits and scoring 14 runs. The game marks their fourth consecutive game of scoring 11 or more runs, with it being the first time they've done this since April 15-23, 2022, when they scored 11 runs in four consecutive games as well. Colin West was the story of the offense going 5-for-6 and a home run away from the cycle, with two doubles, a triple, and two singles; he drove in five runs and came across the plate twice. Freshman left-hander Michael Falls was the starting pitcher and struck out two batters and allowed two earned runs. Senior right-hander Ian Anderson was the winning pitcher for the Brown and Gold, going six, striking out six, allowing two runs, two hits, and two walks; it was his first game of work this year. Sophomore left-hander Tyler Vogel finished the game by pitching one inning; all of the outs he recorded were strikeouts.

No. 14 Bridgewater (Va.) broke out to a dominant offensive surge to best Mary Baldwin, 18-1, at home Tuesday. Although MBU began the scoring with its lone run of the day, BC got the offensive rhythm going in a hurry, capitalizing off fielding miscues and piling on an offensive flow. At 10-1, the Eagles pressed on the gas more in the fifth inning. The Eagles shut down on the mound with Lucas Cash working to six innings and was effectively relieved by Chad Martin for the run rule after seven innings.

No. 15 UW-Whitewater opened up their Spring Trip to Pensacola, Florida, with an 11-6 win over Nebraska Wesleyan. The Warhawks and Prairie Wolves had a tight game nearly the whole way, but a grand slam by Hudson Turner in the 8th cracked the game open for UWW. Brady Gilroy sent the go-ahead run around to put UWW up 7-6 with just two innings left to play. Benjy Tucker continued his work on the mound into the 8th. The Prairie Wolves had runners on second & third, but Tucker threw a three-pitch backwards K to end the side & keep the lead in the Warhawks' favor. The UWW offense got moving again in the bottom of the frame, loading up the bases with three walks. On the first pitch of his at-bat, Turner sent a grand slam over the left field wall for the Warhawks' first homer of the season. The long ball put UW-Whitewater up 11-6 with just an inning left. Gradin Taschner took the mound for the final three outs. Taschner struck out all three, only allowing a lone single in the final inning. 

Wrapping up its trip to the Lone Star State, North Central (Ill.) used a six-run third inning and key baserunning to outlast Concordia Texas, 10–8, on Tuesday night at Gardner-Boggs Field. In the sixth, Yuhki Yamada manufactured a run on his own, reaching on a single before advancing on a stolen base, balk and passed ball to give the Cardinals a 9–8 lead. Elijah Hammond entered in relief and kept the Tornados scoreless for the next two innings. Diaz walked in the seventh and moved to third on a Caleb Coberley single. Medina brought him home with an RBI groundout to extend the lead to 10–8. Diaz then took the mound for a two-inning save, allowing just one hit and keeping Concordia Texas off the board to secure the win.

Brevard (10-5) scored double-digit runs for the eighth time this season with a 17-7 triumph over Toccoa Falls (13-9-1) in eight innings on Tuesday at Gil Coan Field. Brevard used three massive offensive innings in the second, fourth, and eighth to take the victory over the Screaming Eagles. Junior shortstop Nicole Bartolotti led the way for the offensive explosion, going 4-for-6 with 4 RBI, a double, and a run scored. Senior designated hitter Gavin McCoy launched his first career home run, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, joined with two hits apiece by Bryson Genwright, Gavin Grant, Moe Love Jr., and Logan Sawyer. A grand total of eight Tornados tallied hits, with six tallying multiple base hits. Jonathan Germany (2-0), Jonah Campbell, Barger Shook, Grayson Ledford, and Nathan Woytowich all combined to work on the mound for the Tornados in the midweek matchup, with Shook making his collegiate debut and recording his first strikeout.
