The Short Story
• The fifth-ranked Johns Hopkins baseball team won its 10th Centennial Conference Tournament title and 14th overall Centennial crown as freshman Mike Eberle hit a walk-off RBI single to drive in senior Tommy Mee for the winning run over third-seeded Ursinus. The Blue Jays topped the Bears, 4-3, giving up all three UC runs in the fifth inning. Senior Ryan Orgielewicz was named the Centennial Conference Tournament MVP for his performance in JHU's 3-0 performance in the championships.
• Blue Jay starter Preston Betz retired the first three batters against Ursinus, picking up a pair of strikeouts in the first inning. Betz surrendered a double down the left field line to Mumme, and Kurey reached on an error by Conor Reynolds to put Bears on the corners. Betz stranded the pair, notching a pair of strikeouts before Tommy Mee caught a fly out by Diana to conclude the inning without giving up a run.
• Hopkins got on the board in the bottom of the second. Alex Darwiche worked a four-pitch walk, but Mike Eberle hit into a fielder's choice. Jon Hayden reached first on a walk, advancing Eberle to second. Reynolds singled to right center to drive in Eberle for the first Hopkins run, and Brian Lin followed suit with a single of his own, loading the bases. Mike Smith was hit by a pitch, reaching first and sending Hayden home to give the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead. Reynolds was caught stealing home to conclude the inning.
• In the third inning, each team hit a leadoff single before three straight outs to keep the score, 2-0 JHU through three innings. Similarly, in the fourth inning, just four batters stepped up to the plate for each team, as both the Blue Jays and Bears recorded one hit in the inning. Ursinus took the lead in the fifth inning. Betz allowed four singles for a pair of Bear runs, Jack Bunting took over with two on and two out, giving up an RBI single to Kurey before striking out Usowski to end the inning with the score of Ursinus 3, Hopkins 2.
• Hopkins tied the score in the bottom of the seventh. Reynolds and Lin reached base against Regensburg with a walk and hit by pitch, respectively. Weidenfeld took over at the mound, recording an out as Smith laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Reynolds and Lin. Ryan Orgielewicz walked, the second full-count walk of the inning, to load the bases and Mee earned a four-pitch walk to send Reynolds to home plate for the 3-3 score. McCarthy entered the game for Ursinus as the pitcher, striking out Darwiche as he fouled off a two-strike bunt and tagging Lin out as he took off for home on a Hopkins miscue to end the inning.
• Cameron Mineo pitched the eighth inning for the Blue Jays, as the Bears went three up, three down and Mineo earned a strikeout to end the inning. The Hopkins offense stranded three in the bottom of the eighth. Eberle hit a leadoff single to left center, hitting from the left side, and Hayden bunted to the third baseman to reach first. Joe Conlon laid down a sacrifice bunt as a pinch hitter, and McCarthy intentionally walked Reynolds to load the bases with one out. Lin and Smith recorded back-to-back pop ups to end the inning.
• In the ninth inning, Mineo retired three-straight batters to give the Blue Jays the chance to walk it off for the win. Orgielewicz flew out to center field with a shot that nearly cleared the fence. Mee singled to the shortstop, just beating out the throw at first, and Darwiche followed him on base with a single up the middle. Eberle stepped up to the plate, sending the ball to left center field. Mee took off for home plate, crossing it before the throw to give Johns Hopkins its 10th Centennial Conference Tournbament title.

• Senior pitcher Cameron Mineo picked up his team-leading sixth win of the season, facing the minimum number of batters in the final three innings and striking out a trio of bears.
• The Blue Jays recorded at least one hit in seven innings. In the seventh innings, the Blue Jays did not tally a hit, but used three walks, a hit batter and a sacrifice bunt to score the game-tying run.
• Hopkins walked it off for the victory for the sixth time on the season. Mike Eberle recorded his second hit of the game as the single that scored Tommy Mee for the championship-winning run.
