WINCHESTER, Va. - The No. 6/7 Shenandoah University baseball team continued its winning ways Saturday afternoon by sweeping a non-league doubleheader from Misericordia University.

Shenandoah (4-0) was a 14-1 winner in the opener before taking the nightcap 9-2.

Misercordia (0-2) actually led game two by scoring one run in the first off of Hornets starter Brian Goddard (1-0), but the SU offense answered with three runs of its own in the bottom of the frame.

A five-run third proved to be all of the offense that Shenandoah would need in the opener - senior All-America Kevin Brashears plated the first two runs with a two-run double to right center before Cory Nelson and Mike Smith delivered a pair of RBI singles.

Senior Ben Henderickson (1-0) took that support and scattered five hits and two walks in 6.0 innings to pick up the victory.

Henderickson struck out three and allowed only an unearned run (in the sixth) before turning it over to freshman TJ Campbell for the final three outs.

Game two was much closer, as MU made it 3-2 by scoring one run on one hit in the top of the fifth.

The Shenandoah offense again answered the call, however, scoring six runs in the bottom of the inning to turn the game into a rout.

Jake Pendergraft had two of the Hornets eight hits in the nightcap.

Brashears was 2 for 3 with three RBI in the opener with Joey DonofrioGreg Van SicklerKeaton NeebChristian Frey and Smith all contributing at least two hits.

Neeb led this group with a 3 for 4 day that included a run batted in.

Goddard struck out six and allowed two runs on five hits in 6.0 innings of work. Junior Matt Griffin worked a hitless ninth to finish off the sweep.
