Choctaws Fall to Huntingdon, 8-5

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Mississippi College baseball team fell behind early and could not come all the way back in an 8-5 loss to Huntingdon on Saturday afternoon at Posey Field.

The Hawks (1-1) scored four runs in the second inning and two runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead.  In the second, Huntingdon scored on a walk, a wild pitch, and an MC error.

The Choctaws (1-1) got two runs back in the fourth inning on RBI singles by junior Brett Hightower and senior Chad Wooten.  All eight starters tallied hits for MC with Wooten leading the way with three.

In the seventh inning, MC cut the lead to 6-5 on the strength of a two-run double by junior Blaine Posey.  Junior A.C. Lowrance also had an RBI single in the frame.

The Hawks answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Caleb Astin, who went 4-4 with two runs in the game.

Senior Bo Craig took the loss for MC, allowing four earned runs over 2.1 innings pitched.  Senior Scott Trousdale allowed just two earned runs over 4.0 innings of relief.

The Choctaws will be back in action on Saturday when they play a doubleheader at Rhodes in Memphis, TN.
