Sanguiliano Helps Lead #3 Kean Past FDU-Florham, 10-6

Union, N.J. (3/3/12) – Senior Steve Sanguiliano was 3-for-5 with two RBI as he helped the Kean University baseball team to a 10-6 win over visiting FDU College at Florham on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.

Senior Mike Russo (1-1) picked up his first win of the season.   He allowed four runs, two earned, in six innings.  He also allowed nine hits and three walks, fanning six.

The Cougars (6-2) got on the board first, plating two runs in both the first and fourth innings to take a 4-0 lead.  FDU (0-1) responded and pulled within one after scoring two in the top of the sixth.  Senior Steve Seminerio recorded a two-out, two RBI single to right to put the score at 4-3.  Kean answered with four runs in the bottom of the same frame.  Sanguiliano got things started with an RBI single, scoring senior Vinny Galya, who reached on a leadoff single.  Sophomore Joe O'Connor followed that with an RBI single of his own.  Later in the inning, senior Dylan Laguna would drive one in with a sacrifice fly and senior Eddie Jennings rounded out the scoring with an RBI single to put Kean ahead, 8-3.

The teams would exchange runs in the later innings, but the Cougars were able to pull away with the win.

Rookie Anthony Fischetti was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI while Galya was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a stolen base.  Seminerio was perfect with a 4-for-4 performance and three RBI for the Devils.

Kean enjoys a short break before heading to the road on Thursday when they travel to SUNY College at Old Westbury.
