WINCHESTER, Va. - No. 22/RV Shenandoah University banged out 16 hits in a 10-6USA South Conference baseball victory over Ferrum College Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (6-4, 2-1 USA South) snaps a two-game losing streak with the victory over the Panthers (9-4, 2-1).

Trailing 2-1 after FC scored two runs on three hits in the second off of starting pitcher Vince Claudio (3-0), the Hornets broke the game open with three runs in the second and four more in the third.

Freshman Corbin Lucas got the rally started in the second with a leadoff home run, the first of his career, that hugged the left-field foul pole.

Following a hit by pitch to Mike Minch and a double into the right-center gap fromJoey DonofrioKurt Krout and Jake Pendergraft drove in runs with a sacrifice fly and a double to center, respectively.

Pendergraft's double to the deepest part of the ballpark was his second hit of the contest. The current USA South Conference Player of the Week is now hitting .538 after finishing today's game 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Lucas was the story in the third inning as well, driving in a pair with a double to right-center.

He was 2 for 4 with three RBI and two runs scored on the day.

Ferrum made things interesting with four runs in seventh off of Claudio, but freshman Matt Riegler slammed the door by inducing an inning-ending foul out to right and then working a scoreless eighth and ninth.

Claudio struck out seven and Riegler four.

Donofrio, who had three hits, gave the SU some breathing room with a two-run HR in the bottom of the seventh.

All nine Shenandoah starters had at least one hit.

These two teams complete their weekend series with a 1:00 Sunday contest.
