No. 19 Shenandoah Wins at E-Town

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - No. 13/19 Shenandoah University reached the 20-win mark for the ninth straight season thanks to a 6-4 non-league baseball victory over Elizabethtown.

Shenandoah (20-7) had to rally twice to finally dispatch Elizabethtown (11-7).

After the Blue Jays scored two runs in the fourth, SU took its first lead with a three-run fifth.

Michael Paul and Mike Minch had RBI singles before Joey Donofrio put the Hornets on top with a sacrifice fly.

Shenandoah answered a two-run E-Town sixth with two in the seventh to take the lead for good.

Senior Jake Pendergraft had the game-winning hit with a two-run HR to left. Pendergraft's dinger plated Corbin Lucas, who had been hit by a pitch while Pendergraft was on deck.

Freshman Matt Riegler (3-0), who came on in relief of Jeff Stanek, earned the win with 2.0 innings of scoreless relief.

Senior Kyle Scallion recorded the final five outs to earn his second save of the spring.

Scallion had four strikeouts in the 1 2/3 innings pitched and allowed just one hit.

Lucas and Pendergraft each had two hits. Seven of nine starters had at least one hit.

Mark Minisce (2-1) took the loss for the 'Jays. He struck out four in the complete game performance.

The Hornets are now off until hosting future ODAC rival Hampden-Sydney next Thursday night at 6:30.
