Muskies falter in non-conference loss to Green Knights

More news about: Lakeland

The Lakeland College baseball team lost its non-conference contest to St. Norbert College on Tuesday night.

The Muskies (16-12) didn't seem to be mentally prepared for their non-conference contest, falling 12-2 in seven innings.

Lakeland used five different pitchers, which combined to allow 12 runs, 10 earned, on 13 hits and eight walks.

The Muskies found themselves in a quick hole, as the Green Knights scored six runs on five hits in the first inning, setting the tone for a long day for Lakeland.

The Muskies got two runs back, scoring one in the second on a Charlie Sparrow (Milwaukee, Wis.) RBI double and one in the fourth on a double play, scoring Garrett Morris (Janesville, Wis.). That's all the offense Lakeland could muster.

St. Norbert would score two in the fourth, one in the fifth and sixth, and would cap the scoring with two runs on four hits in the seventh to end the game.

Four Muskies combined for the team's five hits, with junior Matt Krueger (Medford, Wis.) tallying two of them, going 2-for-3. Nate Soley (River Falls, Wis.), Jess Nickel (Waupun, Wis.), and Sparrow had one hit each.

Lakeland returns to action on Saturday, April 21, as the Muskies travel to Rockford, Wis., to face Northern Athletics Conference foe Rockford College. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
