(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Sophomore third/second baseman Tyler Graber (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) was a combined eight-for-eight at the plate today (Friday, April 20, 2012) to lead the Thomas More College baseball team to a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) doubleheader sweep of Geneva College at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.  The Saint won game one, 21-5, and the nightcap, 9-1.

With the sweep, the Saints improve to 21-10 overall and 10-7 in the PAC and the Golden Tornadoes fall to 14-18 overall and 8-12 in the PAC.

In game one, the Saints scored four in the first, one in the second, five in the third, seven in the fourth and four in the sixth, while holding Geneva to one in the first, two in the third, one in the fourth and one in the fifth for the 21-5 victory. 

Graber led the Saints at the plate as he was five-for-five with a double, four runs batted-in and three runs scored.  Four other Saints had multiple hits in the game as sophomore third baseman Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) was four-four-four with a double, a RBI and four runs scored, sophomore right fielder Cody Makin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was three-for-five with a double and two runs scored and senior first baseman Andrew Thole (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) was two-for-three with a home run, a double, five RBI and three runs scored.

Junior David Etscheid (Union, Ky./Ryle) earned the win on the mound as he pitched five innings and gave up five runs (all earned) on six hits and struck out five.

In the night cap, Thomas More scored one in the first, four in the fifth and four in the sixth and held Geneva to one run in the sixth for the 9-1 victory.

Graber was three-for-three with a RBI the second game.  Two other Saints had multiple hits in the game as Makin was three-for-three with two RBI and two runs scored and junior right fielder Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) was two-for-four with two runs scored.

With three total RBI in the doubleheader Thole broke the Thomas More career record for RBI as he now has 168.

Senior Aaron Carmack (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) earned the win as he pitched six innings and gave up one run (earned) on six hits and struck out two.

Thomas More and Geneva will close out the three-game series tomorrow (Saturday, April 21) with a single nine-inning game at 12 p.m. at Thomas More Field.  Prior to the first pitch Thomas More will honor Carmack, Thole and fellow senior Andrew Clements (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas), who will be playing their final regular season game at Thomas More Field.
