SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Gettysburg broke open a 5-1 game with a 10-run seventh and the Bullets cruised by Susquehanna University in their final road game of the season, winning 18-2 in a non-conference tilt.

The Bullets (25-12), who capitalized on eight Susquehanna errors, became just the fourth team in program history to reach 25 wins in a season.

Junior Pat Cody led an 18-hit attack for Gettysburg, finishing 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs while stretching his hitting streak to 12. Sophomore Nate Simon was 2-for-4 with four runs scored while classmate Patrick O'Grady drove in three runs. Freshman Ryan Smith doubled in the ninth for his first collegiate hit.

On the mound, freshman Eric Hungerford threw his second straight nine-inning complete game, scattering 12 hits and striking out four. Hungerford (5-4) did not have a three-up, three-down inning but walked just one. He also started a 1-4-3 triple play in the seventh, deflecting a line drive off his glove. Second baseman Alex Freeman caught the ball on the fly, tagged second for the second out, and fired to first baseman Clint O'Brien to nab the runner at first.

Nick Ferlise went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles to lead the Crusaders (15-25), whose five pitchers allowed just six earned runs.

The Bullets pushed across two unearned runs in the second against starter Ryan Lowe before freshman Scott Zanghellini drilled his first collegiate home run in the fourth, a solo shot to right that made it 3-0. Zach Place homered in the bottom half but Gettysburg answered with two in the fifth against reliever Nick Torkildsen that pushed the visitors lead to 5-1.

Facing Spencer Hotaling, Susquehanna's third pitcher of the game, Gettysburg broke out with eight hits in the seventh, which was prolonged by three Crusader errors. Sixteen Bullets went to the plate, and Cody drove in all three of his runs in the inning on a single and a double as Gettysburg's lead swelled to 15-1.

The Bullets added three in the eighth before Susquehanna scored once in the bottom of the ninth to set the final score.

Lowe (0-1) suffered the loss, yielding three runs in 3 1/3 innings.
