Baruch Drops 4-2 Contest to Brockport

The Baruch College Bearcats lost 4-2 to SUNY-Brockport in a non-conference contest played on Sunday afternoon at the Kean University baseball field in Union, New Jersey.

The Bearcats scored a run in their first at-bat as
Nicholas Pomo-Romanand Daniel Arangoeach hit infield singles to reach first and second base.

Jasdeep Buttarsmacked a single to centerfield and reached second base on a throwing error by the centerfielder. In the process, Pomo-Roman came around to score and Arango advanced to third base for the early 1-0 lead.

Brockport, which upset #7-ranked Kean in a few hours earlier on the same field, took the lead over in the second inning with three runs on four hits. Pete Wilson had the big hit with a triple for two RBI.

Brockport added another run in the fifth inning as Mike Weakley scored on a wild pitch for the 4-1 lead.

The Bearcats scored a run in the eighth inning as Arango reached base on a fielding error. Buttar walked for runners on second and third. That set up
Philip Lopreteand he came through with an RBI single to left field to score Arango.

Unfortunately, the Bearcats could not generate any more runs to suffer their second consecutive, highly competitive loss to one of the stronger programs in the SUNY Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

The baseball team will be on eastern Long Island this weekend competing with a trio of schools at Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York.

The Bearcats will play Mount St. Mary on Friday at 1:30 pm, followed by Saturday contests against Ithaca (10:30 am) and SUNY-Old Westbury (1:30 pm). They finish on Sunday against Eastern Connecticut State at 1:30 pm.
