(AUBURNDALE, Fla.) - The Thomas More College baseball team outslugged Eastern Mennonite University, 23-13, today (Wednesday, March 6, 2013) in a run-ruled game at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, Florida.

With the win, the Saints improve to 3-1 on the season.  With the loss, the Royals fall to 8-8.

Thomas More scored three in the first, four in the second, two in the third, four in the fifth, five in the sixth, two in the seventh and three in the eighth and held Eastern Mennonite to three in the first, four in the second, one in the third, two in the fifth and three in the sixth and run-rule the Royal.

Senior infielder David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) led the team at the plate as he was six-for-six with three doubles, six runs scored and a run batted-in.  Senior outfielder Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) had a three-run home run and three runs scored, while junior infielder Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) was four-for-six with two RBI.  Sophomore outfielder/infielder Nick Connor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-two with three RBI, four runs scored and four walks, freshman Donovan Poque (Sharonville, Ohio/St. Xavier) was three-for-five with two doubles, two RBI and sophomore catcher Brad Popham (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) was three-for-six with four runs scored.

On the mound, sophomore pitcher Ethan Fleming (Heath, Ohio/Heath) pitched two innings of relief to earn the win as he didn't allow a hit and struck out one, while walking one.

Thomas More returns to the diamond tomorrow (Thursday, March 7) when it plays 21st-ranked Aurora University at 3 p.m. on the Lake Myrtle Main Field.
