Leesburg, Fla. - Senior captain SS Stephen Rogers (Watertown, Conn.) went 2-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and a home run to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 14-10 victory over the Worcester State University Lancers in RussMatt Central Florida Baseball Invitational action this afternoon at Pat Thomas Stadium. Trinity, which lost the first game of the doubleheader, 6-3, moves to 3-2, while the Lancers are 3-3.
Down, 4-1, after the top of the second inning, Rogers keyed a six-run bottom the inning for the Bantams with a two-run blast to left-center, and freshman C Scott Cullinane (East Greenwich, R.I.)) added a run-scoring double in the frame. Bantam senior captain Joe Papa (Stoneham, Mass.) doubled twice, while sophomore Scot Huley (Greenwich, Conn.) earned the win on the mound with 3.1 innings of relief work, and classmate David O'Brien (Fairfield, Conn.) got the last four outs to record a save. The Bantams had held a 3-2 lead in game one after a two-run single by sophomore C Robert Ferrara (Fairfield, Conn.) in the top of the fifth inning, but yielded four runs in the bottom of the inning.
