Albion College got a game one win over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Adrian College, but it wished it could have had more. Mike Schypinski pitched brilliantly in leading Albion to the 3-2 win in game one, and it had chances in a 7-2 loss in the nightcap.
Schypinski pitched a complete game, allowing just five hits and an earned run. He also struck out 4 bulldog hitters.
Eric Schimmel, Kyle Kowal, and Alex Schumaker each had one hit and scored a run in the contest.
All of the scoring was done within the first three innings of play. In the bottom of the 2nd, after an RBI single from Kowal and another base hit from Schumaker, it was Tony Cappelletty who came up big with a two-run double with two out.
Game number two didn't quite go as well as the first for Albion. Kyle Cassidy got the start for the Britons, but he allowed six walks through 5 2/3 innings.
Adrian College first baseman Mitch Stefanski was a perfect 2 for 2 in the game, including a 2-run homer in the fourth inning.
The Briton's only runs came in the fifth inning in which they logged only one hit. Schumaker started off the inning with a base hit. Davin Montgomery and Brendan Diamond were both hit by pitches in the inning, and Michael Fischbach tallied an RBI by drawing a walk. A throwing error by the Bulldogs helped the Britons bring in another run.
Albion and Adrian are scheduled meet for another doubleheader on Adrian's home turf tomorrow afternoon, with a 1 o'clock first pitch.
