WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore right fielder Pat McWilliams was 3 for 5 with a triple and two RBI to pace Westfield State University to a 7-5 victory over Williams College on Tuesday, April 9.

The Owls evened their record to 10-10 with the non-conference victory. Williams drops to 9-12.

Williams scored in two innings off starting and winning pitcher Mike Sullivan, who is now 3-0. The Ephs tallied a run in the first inning on three hits, including an RBI single by K.C. Murphy, and rapped five hits in their four-run, fourth-inning uprising.

Westfield scored two runs in the first frame on a wild pitch and a hit batter with the bases loaded. The Owls took a 5-1 lead in the third on a two-run triple by McWilliams and Matt Ferrilli's sacrifice fly.

After Williams knotted the score at 5-all the fourth, the Owls scored the winning run in the home half of the inning on another wild pitch. Westfield tacked on an insurance run in the sixth when Kevin Greene drew a bases-loaded walk.

Westfield out-hit Williams, 12-11. and both teams stranded 11 base runners. Dan Rokitowski was 3 for 4 for the Owls and Jeremy Tanguay was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Freshman reserve infielder Danny DiMatteo came off the bench to rap two singles in two plate appearances.

Phil McGovern was the only Williams player with multiple hits; he was 3 for 5 with a double.

Sullivan hurled seven complete innings, allowing 10 hits and one walk and striking out five. Justin Thomson recorded the final two outs to earn the pitching save.
