Baldwin Wallace Defeats Rams at Snowbird Classic

Port Charlotte, Fla. - The Farmingdale State baseball team fell, 13-8, to Baldwin Wallace today in the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida. The Rams are now 6-2 on the year, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 7-5. 

Trailing 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Farmingdale State junior third baseman Tom Rydzewski (Franklin Square, N.Y.) reached base on a throwing error with one out. Later in the inning, junior right fielder Michael Marino (Franklin Square, N.Y.) hit an RBI single to center to cut the deficit to 3-1. 

The Rams scored three runs in the top of the fifth take their first lead of the game, 4-3. Baldwin Wallace responded with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning to open up a 10-4 advantage.

Despite Farmingdale State outscoring the Yellow Jackets 4-3 the remainder of the game the Rams fell, 13-8.

Junior second baseman Mike Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) was 2-for-2 with a run scored, while junior shortstop Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y) had two hits and 2 RBI for the Rams.

Brad Gugliotta (Twinsburg, Ohio), Mark Zimmerman (Akron, Ohio), Kyle Chontos (Pickerington, Ohio) and Hunter Handel (Akron, Ohio) all had three hits apiece for Baldwin Wallace.
