Standish, ME - Husson baseball picked up its second consecutive non-conference win in as many days with a 9-4 win over long-time rival St. Joseph's College (ME). Zachary Yates tossed the final seven innings of scoreless relief to help the Eagles come back from 4-1 deficit early in the game.

Dylan Foster started a very efficient day at the plate for Husson in the first, walking in his first appearance and later scoring on a J.T. Whitten single through the right side of the defense to make it 1-0.

The Monks scored two of their own in the bottom half of the first off Husson starter Dan Whitney. Whitney lasted just two full innings giving up four runs (three earned) on eight Hits.

From there on out the Eagles used timely hitting and the dominant performance of Yates for the win.

In the third the visiting Eagles tied the game at four after sending all nine hitters in the lineup to the plate. Cody McInnis walked to start things off and moved to second after Foster was hit by a pitch to reach for the second straight time. Brandon Gendreau then wore a Keenan Lowe pitch of his own to load the bases with no one out. Whitten knocked in his second RBI of the day on a sac fly to center in the next at bat to score McInnis and move Foster to third. After a Dennis Meehan strikeout, Foster tacked on another run when Kyle Bishop singled to left and Josh Gaudett walked to reload the bases with two outs. Jordan Carter walked to drive in the third run and knot the game at 4-4.

Foster scored yet another run in the fourth after walking and advancing on a single and a passed ball when Dennis Meehan singled to first to make it 5-4 Husson.

The Eagle offense managed four more runs in the top of the sixth on five hits, including Foster scoring his fourth run of the day after singling to lead off and moving to third on a Whitten single. Kyle Bishop and Meehan both had RBI in the inning, while Meehan scored moments later on a passed ball. Bishop moved to third on yet another passed ball and scored on a Carter single.

Yates picked up the win in seven impressive innings. The senior hurler allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out four, three of which in the final two innings.

Charged with the loss is Thomas Fortier. Fortier gave up five runs, four earned and a walk on six hits with a K.

Husson improves to 14-9 on the year while St. Joe's drops to 18-9. Husson will play again on Friday at home as they host UMF in a doubleheader starting at noon.
