Stockton Upends Kean, 11-6

Galloway, N.J. (4/24/14) – The Kean University baseball team saw their seven game NJAC win streak end as Richard Stockton College upended the Cougars by the final of 11-6 Thursday afternoon.

Richard Stockton (15-16, 6-9 NJAC) snapped their own six-game losing skid in the final regular season home game for the Ospreys. George Eisenhart led a 16-hit attack by going 3-5 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI while Andy Oliver was 3-5 with two RBI and a run scored.

Stockton broke out with seven runs on six hits in the bottom of the second. Mike Bush, Keith Tappert and Rich Zonin stroked RBI singles followed by an RBI double by Eisenhart and a two-run single by Oliver.

Kean (26-9, 10-5 NJAC) got on the board with back-to-back two out doubles from junior Andy Lopez and senior Joe O'Connor in the fourth.

Stockton tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth as Erik Danser roped a two-run single and Mark Jankowski added an RBI single for a 10-1 lead.

The Cougar bats got going in the final two innings, plating four runs.  Sophomore Sal Taormina lined a two out, bases loaded two RBI single in the eighth inning while an RBI groundout from senior Tyler Smarslok and an RBI single from sophomore Matt Meleo closed out the Kean scoring.

Lopez finished the day with three hits, an RBI and two runs scored while Taormina was 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Kean returns home for their final regular season home game for the back end of the conference series with Stockton on Friday afternoon.
