#11 Rowan Scores Five Times In The 11th Innings To Defeat The College of New Jersey, 7-2

GLASSBORO, NJ – The #11/15 Rowan University baseball team scored five times in the 11th inning to defeat The College of New Jersey, 7-2 on Friday afternoon.

In the top of the 11th, first baseman Casey Grimes (jr. Gibbstown, NJ/Paulsboro) and third baseman Kevin McMenamin (jr. Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) started the inning with back-to-back singles. Center fielder Eric Perez (sr. Fords, NJ/Woodbridge) then bunted, but the catcher committed a throwing error, which allowed Grimes to score the go ahead run.
Pinch hitter Scott Bruno (sr. Middletown, NJ/Middletown S.) followed with an infield single that plated McMenamin. Left fielder Nick Kreiger (jr. Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) hit a two run single to make the score 6-2. Right fielder Ryan Pavlik (jr. Blackwood, NJ/Highland Reg.) added a RBI single for a 7-2 advantage.
The Profs have an overall record of 27-7 and they are 12-4 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Lions are 17-16 with a conference mark of 6-10. Right-hander Corey Feigenbaum (so. West Orange, NJ/West Orange) earned the victory out of the bullpen. He (2-0) pitched 2.2 innings and allowed three hits. Lefty Michael Correa (so. Freehold, NJ/Freehold Twp.) took the loss. He (0-2) threw two innings of relief and gave up two runs on four hits.
Grimes went three for five with a double and two runs scored. Kreiger recorded one hit in four at bats and drove in two runs. Bruno had one hit, a run scored and a RBI.
Shortstop Anthony Cocuzza (jr. Absecon, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) had two hits (three at bats) and scored one run. Left fielder Joe Dispoto (sr. Nutley, NJ/Nutley) went three for four, hit a double and drove in a run.
Rowan took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Grimes reached on an error that scored shortstop Ryan Williams (jr. Southampton, NJ/Seneca). Grimes crossed the plate on a wild pitch in the sixth to make the score 2-0. TCNJ got one run back in the eighth on a RBI single by Dispoto. First baseman Josh Limon (jr. Easthampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley Reg.) hit a run scoring single in the bottom of the ninth that drove in the tying run. Right fielder Pat Roberts (so. Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) was thrown out at home plate trying to score the winning run on Dispoto's single.
Rowan hosts Kean University for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 26 at 11:30 a.m.
