LOUDONVILLE, NY- Junior Brendan Garry drove in all three runs as the University of Rochester baseball team defeated Union College 3-0 to move into the finals of the Liberty League Baseball Championship on Friday at Siena Field.
 
The game was a pitchers duel all the way between Yellowjacket starter Josh Schulman and Dutchman pitcher Dane O'Neil.  Both teams were hitless through six innings before Rochester was able to break through in the seventh.
 
Schulman tossed 7 2/3 scoreless innings giving up two hits, three walks while striking out six.  O'Neil went eight innings for Union, allowing three hits, two runs and one walk while striking out five.
 
With two outs in the top of the 7th, sophomore Lance Hamilton singled down the right field line for the games first hit.  The next batter, senior Tyler DeClerck was hit by a pitch and that followed by Garry ripping a double to left center, scoring both runners giving UR (25-14) a 2-0 lead.
 
The Dutchmen (23-10-1) were able to get their first hit in the bottom of the inning with two outs, but couldn't get him across for a run.
 
In the top of the 9th, Garry once again produced with two outs, singling to left field scoring Ethan Sander who reached on a hit by pitch.  Sander moved up to second on a sacrifice and was driven in from there.
 
Janifer pitched around a leadoff single by Jake Fishman in the bottom of the inning to earn his league leading 9th save of the year.
 
Garry was 2-3 with three RBI, tying a season high.  Hamilton and senior Nate Mulberg had the other hits for UR.  Fishman, CJ Worley and Anders Goetz had the base hits for the Dutchmen.
 
Union was able to bounce back in the next game, an elimination game against Vassar, winning 8-1 and setting up a rematch with the Yellowjackets in Saturday's final.  If Rochester wins the first game on Saturday, UR gets the Liberty League title and automatic berth into the NCAAs, but if Union wins game one, the two teams play a decisive game two to decide the crown.  First pitch of game one is slated for 11 am.
