Baruch Sweeps Elms to Earn First Two Wins (8-4, 2-0)

The Baruch College Bearcats earned their first two wins with a doubleheader sweep of Elms College on Saturday afternoon at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

They won 8-4 in the opener as
Joseph Cali(6IP, 2ER, 3K, 5BB) pitched a solid six innings in the start, while Bogdan Leyton(1K) pitched out of a jam in the seventh inning to seal the win.

Matthew Balloneand Eric Ulinoeach had RBI doubles in the third inning, followed by a bases loaded walk by Ardian Selmanifor a 3-1 lead after the third inning.

Elms scored run in the fifth to cut the score to 3-2, but the Bearcats scored five runs in the sixth inning behind an RBI double by
Angel Tejeda, a two RBI single by Ulino and a two RBI triple by Zachary T. Uherfor the insurance runs to hold on to the 8-4 win in Fort Myers.

In the second game,
Matthew Faziopitched a complete game classic with a line of seven innings, two hits and seven strikeouts for the shutout.

Jasdeep Buttarhad an RBI single in the third and Uher smacked a solo homer in the seventh for the 2-0 win.

The Bearcats will continue their busy schedule on Sunday with a 12:00 pm doubleheader against Gettysburg College.
