No. 15 R-MC Pounds out 37 Hits and 36 Runs in DH Sweep at EMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The 15th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team recorded 37 hits and 36 runs in an ODAC doubleheader sweep at Eastern Mennonite.

The Yellow Jackets (14-1, 7-1 ODAC) used a 14-run seventh innings to take the opener 24-3 and rolled through Game 2 by a score of 12-3 over the Royals (7-6, 1-2 ODAC) to extend its win streak to seven.

In Game 1, junior Mitchell Keeler (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) went 5 for 7 with a double, five runs and two RBI to lead the R-MC offense. Sophomore Stuart Brown (Midlothian, Va./Trinity) (1 for 3, 2B 4R) and freshman Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) (2 for 4, R) both drove in three for the Yellow Jackets. Senior Nate Meiners (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's Prep) homered for R-MC.

Junior James Walsh (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee) allowed six hits and one run in six innings with one walk and 11 strikeouts in raising his record to 3-0.

In the nightcap, juniors Michael Trentham (Midlothian, Va./James River) and Michael Kroll (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry) both homered and drove in three as R-MC completed the sweep. The Yellow Jackets scored four in the first and four more in the fifth.

Freshman Rick Spiers (South Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) pitched six innings and allowed nine hits and two runs (one earned) with one walk and two punchouts to up his record to 5-0.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Wednesday, March 25 with a 3:30 p.m. home ODAC contest against Hampden-Sydney at Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.
