FORT MYERS, Fla. - A 5-5 tie after three innings went Lasell's way after the Lasers scored on an error in the bottom of the fourth to beat the University of Dubuque baseball team, 6-5, on Monday afternoon.
The Spartans (4-4) got on the board early after posting two runs on three singles by 1B Dalton Garst, RFJacob Evans, and 2B Will Fogel in the top of the first. Lasell (2-3) responded with four runs on four singles in the latter half of the inning.
Down 4-2 after the first, the Spartans countered with three unanswered runs spanning the second and third stanzas thanks to a pair of RBI-singles by CF Daniel Casanova and Fogel and a DH Matt Hogan run via an error. The Lasers tied it up in the bottom half of the third and provided the final margin of victory in the bottom of the fourth.
UD's starter Tyler Trifiletti (0-1) suffered the loss after giving up 12 hits, six runs (five earned), while striking out five in 6.0 innings on the bump.
Casanova and Fogel each earned a team-high two hits, scored one run, and brought home one RBI.
