WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 11/21 Shenandoah University won its second straight contest Monday afternoon with a 6-3 non-league victory over York (Pa.).

Shenandoah (13-3-1) scored three runs in the first and two more in the third to take a commanding lead over the Spartans (7-8).

YCP made matters interesting with single runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth and then sent the tying run to the plate before Hornets closer Phillip Morse worked out of the jam by striking out Logan Countryman looking for the second out and then picking Christian Bilan off at first base with a full count on Brad Wenzel.

Bilan, who reached first on a hit by pitch, was caught too far off of first as the Hornets executed a perfect back pick for the 27th out of the game.

Morse did not allow a run and recorded two of the final four outs of the game via strikeout.

Junior Ryan Mossman (3-0) tossed the first 7.0 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks.

Mossman struck out six and helped himself out by going 2 for 3 at the plate and driving in a run with a first inning single to left.

Mossman's two hits were two of 14 that the Hornets had on the day – eight of nine hitters in the SU lineup had at least one hit with Billy ArensDaniel FreshleyJ.J. McDaniel and Joe Coleman joining Mossman with at least two hits each.

McDaniel led this group with three hits in four at-bats including RBIs in the first and third innings.

Freshley had two doubles in four at-bats.
