ANNADALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Union College Dutchmen completed their four-game weekend sweep of Bard taking the final games of the series 5-1 and 15-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Adam Ashenfarb picked up another victory in Garnet and White, throwing seven strong innings in game one to improve to 3-0 on the year. He allowed an unearned run on just four hits, finishing with four strikeouts and three walks.

Union did all their damage in a five-run fifth inning. Jake Veslingtripled to right center to bring home CJ Worley and Zach Twitchell. Two batters later, Jamie Faber doubled down the left field line allowing Vesling and Anders Goetz to score. Jake Fishman singled later in the frame to drive in Faber from third to provide a 5-0 margin for the Dutchmen.

Freshman Andy Labeck finally earned his first career win after being a hard luck loser in his two previous starts despite pitching very well. On Saturday, Labeck went 6.1 innings to earn the "W," allowed one unearned run on three hits to go with four punchouts and three walks.

The Dutchmen scored three or more runs in four innings as the team exploded for 15 runs. Nine Union batters drove in at least one run led by Worley and freshman Harrison Glatt who each drove in three. Five Dutchmen recorded two or more hits led by junior Eric Egan's 4-for-5 performance which included three doubles.

Union got off to a 3-0 lead in the second inning on a RBI double from Egan and a pair of RBI singles by Worley and Twitchell. The Dutchmen tacked on five more in the third as Fishman and Worley both had two-run singles. Vesling reached on a single to left to score Matt Ferdenzi to make it 8-0 Union.

The Garnet and White scored three more times in bottom of the sixth to increase their lead to 11-0. Kent Curranscored from third as Ryan McGeown-Conron grounded out to first. The next batter Ferdenzi flied out to center to bring in Jeffery Grasso Jr. on the sac fly. Twitchell singled to left to drive in Egan for the final run of the frame.

After Bard made it 11-3, Union answered with a four spot in the 8th with the big blow coming on a bases-clearing triple off the bat of Glatt which provided the 15-3 final.

Union is scheduled to play at Middlebury and MCLA on Tuesday and Wednesday this week before returning to league play against Clarkson next weekend. Make sure to check unionathletics.com for any possible scheduling changes.
