Rhode Island College take two from Husson

LAKELAND, FL - The Husson University baseball team fell in a pair of contest on Tuesday afternoon to Rhode Island College by the scores of 8-2 and 3-2 in 11 innings. Husson is now 1-4 on the year while RIC is 5-3.

In the first contest, Husson and RIC were tied 2-2 going into the bottom of the fifth, but RIC erupted for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take control of the game.

Christian Corneil went 2-3 with a RBI while Kyle Bishop also went 2-3. Ben Holmes took the loss for Husson after pitching 4.1 innings and giving up six earned runs.

In the second game, a Corniel double in the second inning scored Bishop and Dan Whitney followed that up with a ground out that scored Julien Boone and the Eagles held a 2-0 lead after two.

RIC added a run in the third and fifth to send the game to extra innings.

RIC took the lead in the top of the 11th and the Eagles could not tie it up.

Brandon Gendreau, JT Whitten and Bishop each had two hits to lead the Husson attack.

Corey Mongiat picthed 8.0 innings and gave up only two earned runs while Brandon Grabkowski pitched 3.0 innings and gave up a run to take the loss.

The Eagles return to action tomorrow against New Jersey City.
