ASHLAND, Va. - Sophomore Jordan Schmeer (Richmond, Va./Benedictine) had a two-out RBI single in the sixth to snap a 5-5 tie and propel the 15th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team to a 6-5 ODAC victory over Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday afternoon at Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.

Schmeer went 3 for 4 with one run and two RBI for the Yellow Jackets (18-6, 9-6).

In the bottom of the first, Schmeer led off with a single and scored on a double by senior Nate Meiners (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's Prep) to make it 1-0. Meiners came home on a groundout by freshman Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) as R-MC took a 2-0 lead.

After the Marlins (12-8, 11-4) put up five in the top of the fourth, the Yellow Jackets answered in the bottom of the frame. Sophomore Stuart Brown (Midlothian, Va./Trinity) reached on a fielder's choice with two away, moved to second on a base hit by junior Michael Trentham (Midlothian, Va./James River) and to third on a single by junior Michael Kroll (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry). Sophomore Blake Saathoff (Catonsville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) drew a walk to force in Brown and Trentham scored on a wild pitch to make it a one-run contest. Schmeer's base hit to left plated Kroll with the tying run.

In the sixth, Trentham had a one-out single and moved to second on a base hit by Kroll. Both moved up on a groundout before Schmeer's third hit of the day drove in Trentham with the go-ahead run.

Junior Tanner Phillips (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) earned the win in relief, going 2.2 innings with two hits, no runs, one walk and three strikeouts. Senior J.T. Williamson (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) worked a hitless ninth for his fourth save.

Randolph-Macon returns to action on Saturday, April 11 with a 12:30 p.m. home ODAC doubleheader against Lynchburg.
