WINCHESTER, Va. - No. 6/8 Shenandoah University continued its non-conference baseball winning ways with a 4-2 victory over Elizabethtown Thursday afternoon.

Four Shenandoah (21-5-1) pitchers combined to throw a four-hitter in downing the Blue Jays (20-10).

Senior Matt Riegler (1-0) pitched the final three innings to earn his first win of the season. Riegler struck out two and allowed only a one out single in the seventh in posting the victory.

The Hornets scored one run in the second and another in the fourth only to see E-town tie it with a two-run fifth.

SU then pushed across the winning run in the seventh as Joe Coleman, who had reached on a error at first base, came home when Blue Jays third baseman Nick Lorenz made a throwing error on John Wilt's two-out grounder.

Lorenz pulled the first baseman off the bag, allowing Coleman to trot home from third.

Coleman reached third base after a failed suicide squeeze eliminated designated hitter Nolan Overby in a run-down.

One inning later, Ryan Mossman doubled down the left field line with two outs and then came home on Daniel Freshley's double into the gap in right center.

The double was one of three hits on the day for Mossman while Freshley's RBI was his second of the evening.

In the ninth, Riegler induced three groundball outs, the last right back to himself, to close out the contest.
