SCHENECTADY, NY - After being held scoreless in game one, the Dutchmen bats busted out for 10 runs on 16 hits in the second game to earn a split with St. Lawrence on Sunday afternoon. Jamie Faber went 4-for-5 in game two with two RBIs and Kent Curran drove in a team-high three runs to lead Union. Freshman Andy Labeckallowed two runs on just one hit in eight innings on the mound to pick up his third win of the season.

The win gave Head Coach Paul Mound his 100th career victory in Garnet and White. Mound and his staff became just the third coaching staff in Union's long history to reach the 100 wins plateau. Mound trails just Arthur C. Lawrence (226) and Gary Reynolds (208) on the all-time wins list.

GAME 1

The Saints scored both runs off starter Adam Ashenfarb in the first innings before Ashenfarb retired the final 13 batters he faced. He falls to 3-2 on the season after giving up five hits in six innings. He had three punchouts compared to two walks.

The Dutchmen mustered three hits and two walks before the seventh inning. In the top of 7th, Curran and Jake Fishman led off with back-to-back singles before Labeck sacrificed both runners over. After a CJ Worley pop out,Anders Goetz walked to load the bases for Zack Twitchell. Twitchell was caught looking to end the game. With the loss, Union saw their season-high five-game winning streak come to an end.

GAME 2

St. Lawrence got to Labeck in the first inning scoring on a wild pitch and a steal of home on a double steal attempt. However, after the shaky first, the rookie RHP settled down and fired seven hitless innings with only three Saints reaching base via two errors and one walk. With the win, Labeck has now won three straight decisions to move to 3-2 on the year. He finished with four strikeouts, giving up two walks and just one hit to the first batter of the game in his eight innings of work.

Union tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the second as Chris Carbone beat out a swinging bunt to the pitcher. SLU's pitcher's throw to first was in the dirt and went into right field allowing Fishman and Jeffery Grasso Jr. to score on the play.

The Garnet and White added three more runs in the third as Curran singled home Faber and then Fishman tripled into the right field corner to bring across Eric Egan and Curran. The Dutchmen tacked on two more an inning later in the fourth with back-to-back RBI singles from Faber and Egan.

The "U" put the game away in the 8th as Faber drove in Nate Olson on fielder's choice to second. Then Curran had a two-run single to right to score Twitchell and Faber to provide the 10-2 final.

Union will travel to Plattsburgh St. this Tuesday night before playing Skidmore at East Side Rec in Saratoga Springs on Thursday night.
