Greenville got a run back in the top of the second when Jesse Getz posted an RBI single.
The Pointers matched the Panthers second inning run in their half of the second and tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fourth to give them a 5-1 lead.
In Greenville's half of the fifth, the Panthers received an RBI groundout from Travis Ralls and a two-run double from Dalton McFarland to put the pressure back on Stevens Point.
Four runs was as much as Greenville could muster as the Pointers held them in check the rest of the way while getting a run in the fifth and seventh innings.
Ryan Strohm (5-3) started the game on the mound for Greenville. He hurled five innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on 12 hits.
Strohm yielded the way to Jason Collingwood who threw a scoreless sixth inning. Michael Wittmer came in to allow an unearned run in the seventh, and Nick Bifano tossed a perfect eighth inning.
Ralls and Trevor Montgomery posted two hits apiece for Greenville, and both scored one run.
The Panthers (22-20) face Carthage, who lost the second game of the regional to Webster 4-3, on Thursday at Noon. A win would put Greenville in a game on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against an opponent to be determined. A loss would end the Panthers season.
