Tigers Take Game 2 Against Willamette

LOS ANGELES -- Jack Brancheau went 3 for 5 with three RBIs, including the game-deciding run in the sixth inning, as the Occidental baseball team edged Willamette by one run for the second game in a row, beating the Bearcats on Sunday 5-4 in Game 2 of a three-game series this weekend at Anderson Field.

The game was postponed from Saturday after being called due to darkness in the seventh inning. Saturday's score held up with neither team able to add a run.

Brancheau singled through the left side, brining home Devon DeRaad to break a 4-4 tie in the bottom of the seventh. Oxy had built up a 4-1 lead, but Willamette scored three in the fifth to even it up.

DeRaad, who set Oxy's single season home run record last season, was 0 for 2 with three walks and a pair of runs scored playing the designated hitter position.

Charlie CaccamoGraham Pimm and Jamie Cooper each had a pair of hits for the Tigers.

Riley James, who came in as a relief pitcher in the sixth inning for Oxy, earned the win, going three scoreless innings with just one hit and a pair of walks.

Walker Marks earned the save in the ninth.

Willamette starter Lucas Still was charged with the loss.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 2-1 on the season.

Willamette falls to 3-4.

Next Game: Oxy and Willamette finish their three-game series Sunday afternoon at Anderson Field.
