PASADENA — Devon DeRaad, Charlie Caccamo and Brady Fuller all had big days at the plate, leading the Occidental baseball team to a sweep of Caltech with a pair of wins on Saturday.
Game 1 - Friday: Occidental 18, Caltech 0 (7 innings)
Game 2 - Saturday: Occidental 11, Caltech 0 (8 innings)
Game 3 - Saturday: Occidental 10, Caltech 6
DeRaad, Oxy's single season home run champion, finished the day 3 of 6 with five RBIs, a run and a double.
Caccamo was 5 of 8 with a pair of doubles, two runs, and three RBIs, while Fuller went 5 for 8 with five runs and two RBIs.
The Tigers scored 37 runs through 15 innings before the Beavers finally got on the scoreboard with five runs in the bottom of the sixth in Game 3.
Will Martel earned the win for Oxy in Game 1, throwing five scoreless innings as the starter. Scott Ericksen followed his lead in Game 2, striking out six in five innings while allowing just one hit for the victory.
Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in SCIAC play.
Caltech goes to 1-7 and 0-6.
Next Series: Oxy begins a three-game series with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at CMS on March 4.
