The baseball team suffered a wild 15-14 loss in 11 innings to the United States Coast Guard Academy on Saturday morning in Fort Myers, Florida.
The game featured highs-and-lows with the Bearcats initially trailing 5-1, but they exploded with five runs in the sixth inning to take over the lead at 6-5.
They increased their advantage with seven more runs to jump further ahead 14-7 entering the bottom of the seventh inning.
Unfortunately, Coast Guard rallied with three runs in the eighth and four more in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings tied at 14.
Coast Guard then loaded the bases in the bottom 11 and ended the game with a walk off RBI single by Ed Lazowski to spoil the Bearcats four-game winning streak.
The Bearcats totaled 14 runs on 11 hits, while Coast Guard had 15 runs on 15 hits.
Donovan Huntscored three runs, while Jasdeep Buttarand Matthew Ballonehad two doubles each. Ballone finished batting 3-for-6 and Luca Altamiranostole four bases.
The Bearcats will look to brush off the tough loss on Sunday morning as they will play Alvernia in a morning doubleheader slated to start at 9 a.m. in Fort Myers, Florida.
