Bison drop third straight as they fall to North Central (Ill.), 9-3

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Nichols College baseball team fell to North Central (Ill.) 9-3 in non-conference action Friday afternoon at the North Charlotte County Regional Park in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Sophomore Cam Cook (Phoenixville, Pa.) and sophomore Brendan Martin (Nashua, N.H.) finished the game with a pair of hits while Martin also drove in a run. Junior Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.), and sophomores Nick Roy (Middletown, Conn.) and Greg Eng (Middletown, R.I.) each scored runs in the second inning to make up the scoring for the Bison.

The Bison trailed 1-0 in the game before a three-run second inning put them in the lead. That lead was short-lived however, as the Cardinals answered with three runs of their own in the third inning.

Sophomore StigErik McElhinney (Dracut, Mass.) took the loss after tossing seven innings and allowing six runs on 10 hits while walking three and striking out six.

The Bison close out their spring break trip with Plymouth State on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
