It was the Scarlet Raiders' first game in their hometown in 2016.

Rutgers-Newark improves to 6-8 with the win and will play Centenary College in the first of a three-game series Friday at 3 p.m. at Diamond Nation in Flemington, N.J. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday back in Newark beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Rutgers-Newark scored twice in the first and twice in the second as Dias delivered a pair of two-run singles to give his team a 4-0 lead. Each of the run-scoring hits plated senior right fielder Billy Taylorand senior shortstop Gerry Patrizio as Taylor tallied two early hits (2B, 1B) and Patrizio singled and reached on an error.

After working around trouble in the first, Rosoline was marvelous, scattering five hits in his six innings of work, striking out five and walking two. Save for a tough start at Claremont on March 12, Rosoline has pitched at least six innings in every outing, giving up two runs or less three times.

Rutgers-Newark added a fifth run in the third inning as two hit batters and a single from freshmanRyan Zucker loaded the bases in front of Patrizio who walked, bringing in sophomore Danny Iannaccone.

Patrizio led off with a single in the sixth, stole second and eventually came in to score on a sacrifice fly from sophomore catcher Justin Marks, and R-N tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning as Taylor crossed on a wild pitch, and Marks drove in Patrizio with a single to center.

The Scarlet Raiders stole six bases in the game with Taylor swiping two and Patrizio stealing a remarkable four. The one-two punch at the top of the Scarlet Raider lineup went 5-for-7 with seven runs scored, two walks and an RBI. Taylor was 3-for-4 with three runs, and Patrizio was 2-for-3 with four runs, an RBI and two walks. Dias went 3-for-4 with a walk and four RBI, and Marks drove in two runs (1-for-4). R-N totaled 12 hits in the game to go with five walks.

Junior Vincent Enea worked the final three innings to earn his second save of the season. The Sayreville native was splendid, allowing no runs and no hits while striking out three.

Marks now has seven games with multiple RBI, and both Marks and Taylor and have reached base safely in all 14 games the Scarlet Raiders have played. Marks was able to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, and Dias has now hit safely in his last four games and has reached base in five of his last five games.
